I've just checked in to Howdidido to confirm a H\C change from last weekends Stableford comp and noticed that it hasn't yet been entered. In fact, none of the comp results from April have been entered (we have had at least 5 that I can see in the diary.) The problem is that I know I should have received my obligatory 0.1 back due to a ridiculously bad back 9, which would take me from 11 to 12. I don't want to play any comps over the next week or so from an incorrect H/C. How long does it usually take for the site to be updated?

On a slightly related note, last weekends comp was preferred lies through the green. When I asked in the shop about whether the comp was a qualifier or not, I was told that it would be. I was under the impression that preferred lie comps were non-qualifiers. Just how out of date is my knowledge on this?

Thanks in advance for your help...

We have had preferred lies the last 2 weeks and they have been qualifiers so no problem on that front i dont think.

We dont have our results on HDID but im pretty sure they should of been updated by now so peoples handicaps are accurate? I would imagine it should be updated before the next club comp as a minimum?

Good news on the preferred lies front, but is that standard preferred lies only, or does it include preferred lies TTG?

I wouldn't normally worry about these things, but my club appears to have a strange relationship with the h/c rules, including not checking the start sheet against the cards, meaning that if you don't hand in your card, you don't get your 0.1 back!!! Won't be a worry for long though as I'll be playing elsewhere by the Autumn..

Its preferred lies TTG the lot i think. I cant even remember if ours where TTG or not as i didnt think it was even necessary for preferred lies full stop!

Sounds ace mate, no handicap increases at least :D Sounds like they just make it up as they go along

Have you decided on pastures new then? I know you were toying with the idea of Houghwood was it?

Yes mate, at the moment its Houghwood. It's a bit annoying really as I'd arranged a good deal for myself and my playing partner to join at the beginning of this year, but he jibbed because he thought it was a bit too hilly for him. A few short weeks later and he's playing it with the attached Pro and deciding that he loved it!!! Just after we'd payed this years subs!! Full greens all year round and only temp tees on the par 3's... Glorious, especially when coming from a club that spends 6 months per year protecting every tee box, the fairways and the greens...

HDID should update as the competition is closed off on the Club PC, however, I've seen issues before where the virus protection stopped the transfer of info to/from HDID. It'll be something simple at the club end of the process. call your club sec and tell him, he should be able to look at it and sort it out. There is a function to send results and updated Hcp info separately, so it's an easy task.

Cheers mate. I'll pop into the club tonight to check the h/c sheet to see if they've updated it there yet as well. We wouldn't want me turning up to Slaley with the wrong h/c would we????;)..

We've had an e-mail to say Club Systems (which I think provides the results that are then fed into HDID) is playing up. Don't know whether that is just us or a server thingy (I'm not a techie). Anyway means our comps can't be updated at the moment.

That would explain things perfectly... Cheers Mashie

As far as I am aware, it is what is posted on clubs' notice boards regarding handicap changes that is important, not what has or hasn't been published on HDID.

Im not suprised your going there mate, its a good track and a good test of ability. I enjoyed it a lot when i played it and soon found out why everybody was in a buggy apart from us :D

You will do well turning up there hungover and surviving 18 holes

Fully agree, I was more concerned that they had declared the comp a qualifier incorrectly, then changed their minds. Trust me, it wouldn't be beyond them.

This year, CONGU has extended the standard preferred lies period to 31st May.

This applies to England, Wales and Ireland but not Scotland where Clubs are still required to apply to their Area Authority/SGU should they require an extension of the permitted period (1st November to 30th April)

We switched to masterscoreboard and its updated as soon as the comp is closed on the computer. I'm very impressed with it and what it tracks.

I think a call to the pro or handicap sec is required mate !

Yip I wouldn't like to comment if the Local Ruling stipulated preferred lies through the green for a Qualifying competition.

;)
