It’s our club championship today - and for the first time in club history (or so I am told) 2 juniors are in the final.

Its matchplay and these young lads 16&17 years old (~4hcap) managed to put out a scratch player, one who once played of + figures who could have made it on the main tour.

Weather is miserable, our course is damp and exposed - it will be a hard fight in the wind and rain with little run.

I am going over to watch, it promises to be a good tight game with a HUGE amount of pride at stake.

Has anyone else got a jnr as 1st and 2nd in their championships.

Now this is what club champs should be all about , with the membership all watching or keeping an eye on the result from distance. Hope you have a great day and the golf is good

I was beaten into 2nd in our club champs by a 17 year old....grrrr

1st and 2nd....probably not.

However, the gross club championship (2 rounds medal) is almost certainly going to include (in the mix) one of the young players.

This year, one of our lads who works in the shop (off 6.8, playing 3 years) was one over par on the 17th tee. Stuck his ball o.o.b. reloaded, made a "bogey" with the second ball for a triple 6. Such a pity. He hardly plays these days.... :(

Who won?

Adam Brown - 17 years old and he played like a champ, pity the looser was so bruised - but then I did expect to see more than 11 holes :o

The looser let himself down by not listening to the caddy and thinking he knew better than a man who has played for years, perhaps he will learn for another time, if he does not this is as far as he will go.

Yeah I know young Adam, he got hammered by our number 1 at Belvior in the simi final of fred daly this year. He's got a good game, shame the other kid didn't listen, but then again thats why he's a kid, they never listen.
