My first ever club champs tomorrow. have to say I'm looking forward to it immensely. 36 holes with a break for lunch, and then dinner and a few lemonades and prizegiving in the evening. Although on the downside I have to take someone to Gatwick at 2am so I may well be sponsored by Red Bull by the time we tee off!
Like I said haven't done this before so how do people approach it? Go for it in the first round and hope I can hold it together or start easy and see how I'm going after 18, and hope Ive eaten enough sarnies to get me through to 36!

i honestly dont think i have it in me to play 36 holes in 1 day! but i will be entering my championship next year, but you just have to go play your best as long as you leave happy its all good

Change of clothes fresh socks another pair of shoes if possible, depending on speed of play and lunch time allowance don't bank on to much of a break!
Relax enjoy and play well. :)

Just go out and enjoy it. A positive mental attitude in round two will save you a few shots on most players in the field. Many will be moaning they are tired. so keep hydrated, keep focussed and have fun

Best advice is... You can't win it in the first 18, but you can lose it. Don't do what I did... Sitting at -1 gross after 9, count up my score and get a little over-exited.

Well just got home after a looong day. Started out in bright sunshine, which quickly turned to torrential rain, and then back to bright sunshine. THis continued throughout the day making greens on the hard side of unreadable. Played ok in the first round, ended up shooting net level par thanks to a couple of unwanted 7's, but the feeling in the clubhouse was a couple of high 60 rounds would be in with a shout of the win so with a decent second round I had a chance. Sadly it wasn't to be as I blew up big time on the back 9, and ended up 8 over, and got 0.1 for my trouble! Still was a good day all in all, already looking forward to next years. Although I don't think I will take a Gatwick job at 01:30 on the morning of the comp again!
