Clothing for Autumn Golf

normally swap my normal trousers for waterproofs for autumn and winter, then base layer, polo and a fleecy top if cold. Keeping head and hands warm is key so wolly hat and mittens

The big problem I have is keeping my hands warm. None of the winter playing gloves work because as soon as they get damp (from picking up wet and frosty balls) my fingers go numb. I can just about manage with a combination of hand warmers and mitts but I'd like to find something better one day.

Exactly the same problem I have. Use under armour winter gloves but they do absolutely nothing. Just bought some mittens and hand warmers so I'll see how they do. Puts me off playing big time.

The problem with gloves is the on and off aspect. I get cold hands and after being fed up of this whilst walking my dog on cold winter nights I delved deeply into it. The best solution I found, and it works, is a thin pair of gloves worn inside mittens, must be windproof at least. Mittens, check the filling as like a duvet it can vary, are great but on their own they are not quite enough if you have problem hands. Combine a thin layer plus mittens and your hands sometimes even start sweating in minus temps. The problem in golf terms is that your round is going to be ever so slow if you have to glove on glove off every shot.

Perhaps one of those disposable hand warmers inside a pair of mittens? That may be the answer.

That's almost what I settled on but I use a rechargeable hand warmer inside a well insulated mitten. One of these: http://www.thehotrox.co.uk

It's pretty good but if someone would invent a mitten with the rechargeable warmer built-in I'd be much happier. :)

Good link. Yes, same concept. Maybe there is a business idea in your suggestion.........

Depends on the temperature. Tend to go base layer, polo and thin jumper in todays temperatures in Berkshire. Bit nippier I might put a woollen (club) jumper on. As it gets colder as winter comes I'll go base layer, roll neck, polo and lined jumper with a woolly hat

What clothing do you like to have in your locker for autumn golf? This is my first autumn playing and I'm playing Lytham Green Drive tomorrow. Forecast is dry, but 11 degrees. I've got waterproof trousers/jacket just in case, but obviously don't want to be wearing those unless necessary. All my clothing is summer oriented so am going to try and pick up a couple of bits from the pro shop at the range later.

All depends whether your someone who has to be toasty hot through the to just takin a chill off.... Big difference

I've been trying to source an Adidas Climaheat Fill jacket - the one Jason Day wore at The Open. After months of looking, I emailed Adidas, who told me to email TaylorMade (), who basically said "yes, this is massively popular, but now that it's winter in the northern hemisphere, and coming up to Christmas, we've stopped making it. We won't replace it until autumn 2016".

What the actual?

This one?

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but rain is forecast for tomorrow in sunny Lytham. Wouldn't say it's cold enough for proper base layers yet though. Polo shirt, sleeveless jumper, trousers, jacket and waterproofs would be my bet for tomorrow.
