Off to range tonight to record my long overdue wedge yardages.

Seen a clockface approach mentioned before to assist with this.

Assume (if ball is 6 oclock)

7:30 - 1/4 Swing
9:00 1/2 Swing
10:30 3/4 swing
12:00 full swing.

Im a 4 wedge carrier (sue me) so I guess this gives me 16 wedge distances to calculate.

Has anyone done this and what were the results?

Also let me know if I have the clock face times incorrect?!

Cheers

Dont forget to measure each shot holding your wedges at the top, middle and bottom of the grip.
64 yardages.
Or
work out what swing and club hits the ball 30,40,50,60 yards etc.
Or
hold each wedge in the middle of the grip, swing back to 10 o clock and through to 2 and record those yardages.
Then, adapt each shot/club for different length shots.

I did it, although not as thoroughly as I could have done with different places on the grip.

I found that a 3/4 swing gives about 90% distance of the full shot.
3/4 with open stance (more loft) about 85%
1/2 swing with open stance about 55%

I call them 3/4 and 1/2 swings but they might not be. They're just swings I know I can replicate most of the time.

I didn't bother with my lob wedge as any shot with that is a feel shot for me, but I did it with my 9 iron as well although I hardly ever use it with less than a full swing.
