Chiropractor

Aye most Osteopaths are sadist, they just love pressing their elbow into your muscles, as hard as they can .

Indeed they do, but in my case I went to one for about 10 visits where little pain relief happened but he said he knew what the problem with my back was and he could cure it. After the 10 visit I said I wanted referral to a back specialist which he set up . I had a MRI scan and the consultant said that the back was pretty good but unfortunately both my hips were knackered - so despite the osteopaths promises etc etc he could never have done anything to help me.

Saw an osteopath a couple of years ago, out of desperation, as it was taking so long to get an appointment with an NHS specialist for a nerve problem.
The osteopath diagnosed my problem and set about a course of 6 sessions to fix it. After the second session, during which he did the scary neck cracking thing, I realised it was utter BS.
3 months later an MRI showed nerve damage in my spinal cord and brain - nothing to do with the osteopath, but it highlighted for me what a potentially dangerous sham it was.
I had always assumed they were a type of physio. Didn't realise till then that it's basically 21st century snake oil.
I suspect any relief that people feel after a visit to a chiro or osteopath is purely down to their actions causing your body to start pumping out endorphins and adrenaline.

Update- Unable to get an appointment with a chiropractor or anyone ATM.
An old friend, who also has back problems suggested I try a couple of his Tramadol 50mg.

Before all the lectures start, I do know that we're not supposed to use other peoples prescribed mediation and the risks involved.
But after reading a fair bit of Tramadol information online, in desperation I decided to give them a try anyway.
I took 2x50mg Tramadol at 10.30am this morning, teed of at 12-55.
Bingo, I played 15 holes [ badly ] but with very little discomfort, finished 3.30 ish .
I really could've played the full 18 but time was limited. Still feeling good at 7-40 pm, so time for a celebration brandy or 3 :p.

Gonna try and get a phone appointment with my GP next week and ask to change meds from Ibuprofen 400mg to Tramadol 50mg.

Frankly if it gets you pain free then take whatever you can. They put me on codeine and I've been upping the dosage, as advised. Unfortunately the side effects have not been great so I need to switch to something else. Good to hear that Tramadol has worked for you, I might put a request in.

I was previously on 500mg Co-codamol then Solpadol 500mg, both containing 30mg codeine, also tried Paracetamol with no joy.
I'm becoming a geriatric junky

Before my MiL started with dementia it used to be very funny listening to her chatting in the street with friends. The conversation was dominated by tablets, brands, dosages. They knew more than pharmacists ?. It comes with age and the inevitable aches and pains.

Feel a bit weird recommending drugs, but when I had fractured ribs Paramol was suggested by the GP as a better short-term strong painkiller than most of the stuff they could prescribe. It worked very well for me.
If I remember correctly, they also said it's fine with alcohol.

You're bang on, years ago the main conversation between my friends was about football. golf, our love lives and music .
Now it's mostly about aches , pains and medication, who's died .
But that's life , long may it last

Tramadol is an opiate painkiller - be very careful taking them when they haven’t been prescribed- dangerous

I use co - codamol plus Iburprofen

Cheers Phil, that's what I've been prescribed and have been taking for a good few years.
But sadly they no longer relive the pain, so I will ask my doctor if Tramadol is suitable for me.
As I posted I have already read the dangers.(y)

You took Tramadol prescribed for someone else? Bad idea and both of you have committed criminal offences.

Wouldn't avoiding golf especially when under drugs which will hide pain as you might make irreversible damage without noticing

Say my dad offered me a tablet I wouldn't think twice what it was
