I see Charl Schwartzel gave up his place in the World Match Play to defend his Sun Shine Tour Order of Merit. I have so much respect for a guy who has that stays true to his home tour where he learnt his trade! Says a lot about the man.

I couldn't agree more. He went after the honour of finishing at the top of the Sunshine Tour Order of Merit instead of chasing a load of cheap bucks and some world ranking points in the states.

If only a few more players on the European Tour did that

Yes, loads of respect to Charl

Couldn't believe it when I read that he'd refused his invite. Great to see a bit of old fashioned loyalty in a greedy world.

Now i agree, on the face of it this is a nice show of loyalty from Charl...or is it? Does it betray a trace of a lack of ambition? Or perhaps even running a bit scared of the big boys? Is he more comfy being the big fish in his home-town tiny pond?
