Change of position of out-of-bounds stake?

Del. Have you checked the Noticeboard, asked in the Pro shop - or the DoG - whether (and/or when) the change had been posted, or whether they even knew about it?

If not, why not? The Noticeboard is, after all, the traditional place where such changes are notified!
Does everyone read every notice on the board before every round?
I don't even know where the relevant board is at my new club!

Then find out where it is! And read it or consider yourself at fault if there was something posted there that you failed to take into consideration!

Of course, that doesn't mean it's not a good idea for the likes of Pro Shop staff to also mention anything new too - if they also know about it!.

I think I've found most of the boards, but can't remember where local rules are.
That's my job for next visit!
And if I miss something, well- that's life.

Right, I have checked and there is nothing about the altered OOB stake on any of the club notice boards. Apparently it was moved about a month ago because there was some temporary ground work going on in that area, and also at the request of an official from the LGU for a Ladies Open competition, who wanted the OOB line to be made more obvious! It should have gone back to its normal position, but nobody has got round to doing this yet! :(

So is that a confirmation and actually seems a very sensible reason.

It's only about 5 yards off the right edge of the fairway, on a shot where you are probably using a 3-wood!

That sounds to close to the OOB for the fairway to be cut.

Saying that if a third are taking that shot on with such a risk maybe their course management need looking at.

Neither seems particularly sensible to me, though the one for temporary ground work is possibly reasonable - but should certainly involve notification!!

Moving OOB so it's only a few yards off the fairway, simply 'to make the OOB line more obvious' seems particularly daft to me - and would seem likely to significantly affect strategy on the hole!

@Del. Did you ask the DoG or in the Pro Shop about it?

Yes, I spoke to the Club Manager and the Gents Captain about it this afternoon, and they gave me the information I have already reported.

A month ago......??
And you hadn't noticed...?
How many times have you played the course in the last month...?
It seems to be a well visited area of the course, surely someone must have noticed itnhad been moved and made an enquiry..

Just seen the edit ?!?! A month ago and not one single person had queried it yet loads where effected by it and you hadn't noticed it ?!
