Change of position of out-of-bounds stake?

To be fair Foxholer, if your hitting a wood anywhere near trouble on a par 5 then it's probably not worth the risk! I've read your post on this and I really don't understand "semi reasonable" and I don't know the hole in question but it must be a risky shot as he got into trouble from it and the 15 yards that the stake has been moved was obviously a real issue in Del's mind otherwise he wouldn't have posted about it.

I know the hole in question! I only used 'semi reasonable' to avoid having to explain the players who might have higher risk, but even for a traditional fader/blocker like myself, it's a low-risk shot as far as OB is concerned! Not really 'near' trouble at all - OB stakes simply define the boundary of the course.

Only 'tricky' because of the moved post that prompted the OP.

And are you trying to associate logic with Del's post(s)?

And @Del...
Have you asked when the stake is going to be moved back to its original position yet? Or indeed whether the Club is going to (belatedly) post a notice about the change?

If I had realised that there was a new OOB on the right, I probably would have played a more conservative lay up 2nd shot to this par-5 hole. On the photo I posted, which was looking across and slightly back down the hole, you will see a line of rough in the background which denoted the original OOB line. If you look carefully you will see the next OOB stake back which is still in its original position, well back from the relocated one!

I was pleased to note that this OOB stake had been moved back to its proper place when I played the course this morning. Shame from my point of view that this couldn't have been done two weeks ago! :(

Were you informed that it had been moved back?

I know the hole well and can't work out where this photo was taken... Which are those two big trees rear right?

The photo was taken looking towards the driving range and a bit back down the hole, so you can see the preceding OOB stake. The two big trees are in the semi-rough on the right side of the fairway as you play the hole. The bush to the left of the nearest stake is the one you tend to go into if you hit a less than perfect 2nd shot.
