Change of career??

There is nothing stopping you attending night school and getting some qualifications in accountancy or even doing OU degree. You can still keep in your current job so have the income then in a couple of years time when you have done your degree the job situation may have improved and you can look into taking hte leep.

I changed career three years ago. Was middle management and started hating it. So I took the company's offer of Lean 6 Sigma training and got my "Black-Belt" certification, moved in to process and business improvement and never looked back since. It's a great feeling coming to work and liking what I do genuinely and not just putting a face on it.

I sold an MOT business three years ago because I just wasn't happy there. Income was reasonable, hours were horrendous & quality of life had almost vanished completely.
Had a year off, spending money like it was going out of fashion, before realising I HAD to earn some money.
Had a go at property developement and did one last year and am soon to start my next one. It's hard work, but different & so much more self satisfying than giving a motorist a £400 bill for something he didn't know he needed & therefore thinks he's being ripped off!
I'm more relaxed now and work when I need/can/want to. The money is not as good, the market is far more risky but my hapiness is far greater than before. The big bummer though, and I'm being serious here, is watching Mrs. Slime going to work every day whilst I'm still in bed or getting ready to play golf! Genuine pangs of guilt, but she loves me & doesn't make me feel too bad.
I've recently lost my dad, a mate has just been diagnosed with cancer, a 30yr old woman died running the marathon, a 23yr old footballer in Italy died on the pitch etc, etc, etc. You never know when someone is going to turn your light off.................DO IT before it's too late.
I did it just before my 51st birthday.
Best of luck fella,

Slime.
