Censored PM's

I'm envolved in an interesting PM dialogue with one of the more 'enlightened' members of our forum community. Why is profanity 'starred' out. I'm finding this censorship frustrating, I feel like I can't express myself fully

Why can't I swear on a PM??

I didn't realise there was a swear filter on PMs oo:

I'm guessing it's because the swear filter does not differentiate between forum posts and PM's. As soon as you press send, the swear filter is activated.... Or it's the NSA in cahoots with MI6 and they're monitoring everything YOU do... Bought a Tin Cup yet?

Because he wants to. It's a private conversation between adults. If he wants to swear like a Brummie builder in a Working Mens Club then he can.. Unfortunately, the filter will still do it's job and star it all out though.. I wonder if the swear filter reports each change it makes? Could you get an infraction for a private message swear fest?

Becuase it's in the context of the conversation, and I am responding to a threat of physical violence :thup: wouldn't/ can't do it on the main forum don't worry.

I guess you're right about the swear filter. It's frustrating in a way as it makes you sound like a knob!!

You can always report the PM in the same way you report a post as well.

Swear filter is a catch all thing as has been mentioned before.

I saw that, I'm not really into telling tales. I was surprised the swear filter kicked in on PM's, every day is a school day, cheers for the feedback.

It's not really telling tales though. Anyway eventually folk like that will always get caught out.....

Supose it wouldnt take Sherlock Holmes to figure out what its about .. but seriously its a waste of time arguing with a stranger over tinternet .. for anyone not just you ..

No mate, it's ok just a storm in a tin cup. I'd rather rely on my cutting sacasm, razor sharp wit and superior intellect (it's all very much relative I know)

Sometimes it's just nice to use a little targeted profanity
