My 52 amd 56 wedges look like they have been used to mine granite but I only plan to play 5 or so rounds of 18 this year and probably another 10-15 9 holes or par 3 course rounds.

I notice that although the clubs still hit the ball well they do not have the bite they once did and look pretty worn compared to new clubs.

I have just popped into NBs and found some MP T11 wedges for £165 for the pair.

So being just a casual golfer this year should I just carry on as I am, look into regrooving the wedges or consider purchasing new ones that I can use now and when I hopefully get a new membership by the start of next season?

Guess it depends on your budget, if you don't mind blowing 165 quid then go for it IMO .its nice to treat yourself every so often.

I've only just changed my wedges in the last few weeks after 11 years of use. Had them regrovved a couple of times and still get plenty of bite from them. Decided though that as I play a lot of competitive golf, the grooves are probably highly illegal now

Can you meet me down the back alley behind the chandlers ford range and do mine for me? Bring it in a brown paper bag please!

Not really, I have it but I should not spend it unless its necessary for golf. Its kind of my golf reserve in case I break a driver/iron shaft or need something replacing urgently.

I used to be a member at Hockley, good all year round track as it is built on a chalk hill so always open. Good bunch of lads up there as well. Most people in the area prefer Stoneham but that is prone to getting wet and course closures in the winter.
