Castle Stuart thoughts

looking at the footage on sky sports news I would say its just about unplayable as it stands, if they carry on getting rain I doubt they will complete 36 let alone 54 holes!!!

Shame the course has been damaged by the landslides. Nothing you can do to legislate for that. It looked marvellous in the coverage over the first two days if a bit too easy for the tour pros. It probably needs toughening up in the driving zone for them but otherwise it looks awesome

The course is set to allow birdies but did you see the amount of 7,8 and 9's carded by some of the pros? Bloody hell.

I understand that it is set up for the birdies. However as a lot of pros are trying to use it as a bit of links practice and to entice stronger fields, would the course not benefit from playing much closer to an Open venue. I've never been there but read the GM reviews when some of you guys went there and what was in the magazine and it is a venue with huge potential.

It's still Links golf Homer and with soft greens and no wind the pros would be shooting low scores round any course.

Admittedly the fairways are generous but a links needs some breeze or any of the Open venue courses would be there for the taking.

It was on it's way to a -14 to -18 winning 72 hole score probably...........many an Open has been won with a score of sub 12 under and let us not forget that there had been next to no wind for the 2 days either.

Nowt wrong with the venue just the weather. If that had fallen on Loch Lomond it would have been a 36 holer and canoes would still be needed at the end of the month.
