Car Driving

Do you like driving or find it necessary evil,? the reason i ask is although i have an 80 mile round trip to work daily i have just driven nearly 1100 miles in the past few days taking my son down to Uni in Exeter and i'm knackered.

The M74,M6,M5 must be the most boring road ever so many idiots on them roads the way they drive its nuts.

I do the M5 - M6 commute every week between Gloucester & Manchester. I can honestly say that huge chunks of it become a blur - which is a scary thought, especially because I use the cruise control a lot!! The stretch past Stoke has to be one of the worst for congestion - so frustrating especially when trying to get back home.

I love driving anywhere in the UK north of Preston........anywhere else is just a survival exercise.

I am always amused at the first time tourists to Scotland who think that Gairloch is just a couple of hours north of Gretna.

Steve ..my daughter went to Exeter, good Uni.

Cheers Doon it certainly looked a nice place, he's doing his Chartered Accounting degree there ,he's on a major financial companies School Leavers Programme so they pay his fee's, accomodation and give him a salary as well as many other benefits so its like a wee lottery win with me no having anything to shell out, especially after 6 years of private school fees.

Don't rub it in I had to pay full whack for 3 years....no grant at all.
A friend was loaded but as his son was living with his ex wife the lad got a full grant and he did not pay a bean.

My eldest did accountancy.
Four years in London working for Anderson's but now up here in Scotland owning and running a kids business.

I love driving ........................ always have & always will (hopefully).
I sometimes get a bit frustrated with the caravans in the summer & cyclists cycling side by side and some old people in Honda Civics and some people who drive big german cars with no indicators and roadworks and occasionally with people who are obviously lost and speed camers and middle laners, oh, and sometimes with joggers who use the road instead of the pavement and even some people who are ju......................................
But, mostly, I love driving.

Slime.

Used to drive quite a bit in my last job. 35-40k mostly up here in Scotland. Got to the stage I hated the A9, A96 and A90 with a passion. Had to travel to deepest darkest Leicestershire where the HQ was located, so it was either M6 and cut across or take ages on the A1/M1.

Changed job 4 years ago and furthest travel to a site is now only 15 miles, ideal. I don't miss the hours on the road one bit.
