There's a captains day at my course on Saturday, could someone explain to me what goes on on these days and what the point of it is?

Thanks

Its basically an induction for the captain. It is a fun sort of competion, at my place there was on course compeitions eg, chip over the pond into a net for sleeves etc...
It is basically some fun and a chance for the captain to become known! :)

Also usually a charity based day to raise funds for the captains chosen charity, the golf is usually quite light hearted with various additional side prizes, our main competition is a team event with best 2 stableford scores out of 4 counting on each hole though i have seen clubs with various different formats

Captains day at our golf club tomorrow, because the captain does not pay his subs for the year he buys the prizes to the valve £815 for the comp and puts on a refreshments after you have played free beer and sandwiches plus there is a dinner dance at the club on Saturday night were the prizes are giving out you have to attend to get your prize

Our captains day tomorrow too, we are playing a kind of power play tomorrow. I can't make it got too much to do this weekend but sounds good fun, dinner dance in the evening.

+1, captains day tomorrow for me too. Raising money for Help 4 Heroes, the nominated charity for the next two years.

format for tomorrow is strokeford, the first nine holes as a medal and the back nine stableford. using full handicap scores worked out as follows, total strokes for front nine less 1/2 handicap then the stableford score from the back nine is deducted from the front nine, lowest points wins

Our Captain's weekend this weekend. 5 day members comp today, ladies' day tomorrow (mixed team comp with 1 lady member per team) and main comp on Sunday.

Captain lays on free beers and snacks and sees everyone off the first. Also a tote so you can bet on yourself and mates. Often a chipping or putting comp as well. Barbecue on Sunday afternoon and evening.

Captain also has a separate charity day with auctions etc. This year it raised £7000 for the Captain's chosen charities (The Alexander Devine Children’s Cancer Trust & The Thames Valley Air Ambulance).

Our captains day has an AM event and PM one - both shotgun and so you can decide which one you want to play in (not both). There are prizes for AM and PM and an overall winner plus charity auction prizes, raffles etc. Usually fully booked for both sessions with a waiting list. Always one of the highlights of the year. They usually film everyone teeing off the 10th and then play it back on a loop in the clubhouse afterwards which can be interesting viewing
