Just finished Bob Rotellas 'Golfs not a game of perfect' and am just starting '15th club'.

I am just as excited if not more so to hit the course after reading this book than I am when I got my new clubs.

My whole approach to the game I think will change and hopefully improve.

I know there are some who think it's a load of rubbish.

I have been in Martial Arts for 24 of my 28 years on this earth and appreciate the power of mind over matter and understand that you are more than capable of shocking yourself with self belief and confidence.

Loads of people rave about this fella, and i'm sure there are others who can offer the same insight.

I very highly recommend this book and although we havn't ben able to play for a while I feel that I have made some improvements to my game.

Read 15th Club just after xmas. Made a massive difference to my game (see earlier post). Changed my attitude and improved my putting no end. All the best - put what you read into practice and I'm sure you will see a difference!

Let us know if it works for you too.

Just bought one on the strength of this thread. I will report back once I receive it and read it.

I think the mental side is an area which I can seriously improve on.

I am a Rotella convert and think his stuff makes a lot of sense. The stuff about thinking about a negative area (OB, water etc) and the way the shot will always find the trouble you are thinking about just put a huge light on in my head.

Now when I'm on a hole with OB or trouble I'll recognise it first and then say "ok you can't go left/right because... so lets make sure we put a good swing on this instead. I need to be hitting at that bunker/tree in the distance/marker post"

Then as I line up I look at the designated target point as I'm walking in and it is the last thing I look at before looking down and firing. It is amazing how few times now I am even thinking about trouble and my driving is a lot more consistant even though I've not changed anything in my swing

Hi Andy

Started Shotokan Karate at 4 and got my 3rd dan black at 17.
This was when a black belt actually meant something. They didn't give them out left right and centre. I was with the KUGB and JKA (Japanese Karate Association) 0n my grading day 200 graded and 12 passed.

Then I had 6 years full contact kickboxing then switched to boxing, mainly for the fitness but then had a few fights.

I started running clubs at 19 and joined the BKJA where I had three national champions, myself included.

Then I joined a school of Bushido which was great as they focused a lot on Zen which put a new perspective on my training and also my life as a whole.

Little long winded but there you go.

Thanks Lee, not into any myself but would like something to focus on apart from golf. Did have my motorbike until tragedy struck, so on the look out.

Any recommendations for an absolute novice?

Cheers

If there is a Bushido school near you then thats where you go. Awsome fellas and good ethics. They olny teach adults aswell.

There is so many new arts and schools to chose from so you must be careful. MOST! are dog sh#t.

You can't beat Karate, or a good Tae Kwon Do school. They are good starters to give you the basics, then if you wanted to progress into anything else it would make the transition easier. Look for KUGB, JKA, SSKS for Karate schools

Dam sure I'm not going to pick a fight with you or slag you off on here.

In fact do you need your golf shoes cleaned?
