Camcorder to record swing

TH that looks like you filmed it in slow motion.
I think what Fundy wants to do is film the whole session in normal speed then watch back bits in slow mo but in good quality.
Can it do that and does anyone know if the Casio can.

And as for the swing...........
Is that his real swing?
You can set the slow motion anything from 48fps to 500fps (but to be honest anything above 240fps gets a bit too lo-res)
When in slo-mo mode, it only allows a maximum of 10 minutes recording as the file size becomes so large.
The camera does record in HighDefinition 720P movie mode at 24FPS which doesn't have a restriction as to length. So should work fine (but of course to slow it down use VLC player) that can play back any movie file at whatever speed you want.

Yes that is his swing, guy hasn't got the resources to get ton's of lesson (I would guess he needs LOTS!) and suprisingly that day wasn't quite as bad as it normally is.

Homer

do you need the vidoes in a certain format to use something like V1?

No.

I just download the footage off the camera into the PC as you would for any other picture. I open up V1 (or GASP) and there is an icon to pull saved footage into the software. I don't have to make any changes to the files from downloading off the camera and can then play the footage frame by frame, slow mo or in real time. The V1 allows me to split screen and put another swing (say prior to a change I've been working on or a limited library of tour players) and compare the two. I've got the trial GASP software and that doesn't but will do if I upgrade

I bought a brand new Casio FH20 from eBay for approx £170.00 and it's brilliant. The one thing you will need if you buy one is a decent memory card (Class 6 or above) as the lower class ones get a bit jumpy and you will miss quite a few frames.

I use mine all the time to back up everything I've been taught in my lessons. I show my pro and he can give me an instant pointer on where I'm going wrong, without having to fork out antoher £25 for a lesson on the same thing if the drills haven't sunk in yet.

Is it possible to post a slo-mo swing on youtube and post the link here? I'd love to see the quality of the recording as it would be good to have one of these for teaching.
Thanks

Hi Bob, yes that will be fine I still havent put any swings on youtube. I will do it this weekend I've been meaning to do it for ages. You can give me a lesson ;)

The one thing I will say is if you are at a covered driving range the quality is not as good as when you are outside, the high speed videos need more light than a normal speed video does. You can however adjust the ISO & shutter speeds to account for this.
