Hi all

am looking to get a cheap camcorder to record my swing (used to have a local range where you could record to disc in one of the bays but doesnt seem an option round here).

Am not very technical with things like this, will any old camcorder do or is there certain things I should look out for?

The only thing that I assume is important is how many frames per second it takes - whats the least I should need to be able to watch my swing back in slow mo?

TIA

No, my mobile is of the archaic variety - makes calls, sends texts and takes a very poor quality still photo

ideally want something to record a whole practise session not just one or two shots too, so that I can review it later.

Plus with something like the mobile it needs someone to hold it and "do the recording", ideally I want something i can set up and just leave alone whilst i practise

anything above 3 mp with a memory of at least 4 gig will be upto the job
they all have camcorders on them and for what you need it for i wouldnt go spending mega bucks.

Hmmm, one over today , what the hell do you want to look at your swing for, it looked fine from where I was standing.

How much do you want to spend mate?
You could just get a digital cam with alot of memmory? memmory is cheep!

Is this something you want to do alot? I can get my hands on a camcorder you could use for the day.

Thanks mate

yeah its something id like to do once a fortnight or so. Will spend as little as poss ideally - seems you can get a second hand one on fleabay for £50 - just not sure if it will do what I need

Digital or tape?

if you dont want digital im sure you can get something very cheep, but if you want to look at it on the PC then it will be easyer to get digital. Pretty much any spec will do.

Bob

what specifically is it that the camera needs to have to enable the decent slow mo? Ill take a look at the one you posted thanks (tho Santas already baulking at the cost of the new 910 Driver lol)

Alex, def digital not tapes

I just use my normal digital camera. It does all I need it to and once I've downloaded into V1 (trying out the GASP software at the moment) then I can see everything I need to in normal speed and slow mo through there

Homer

do you need the vidoes in a certain format to use something like V1?

Bob

I like what I see with the Casios - will have a better look tomorrow, thanks for your help

many thanks bob

seems theres 4 or 5 casio models that would do the job, bit more than intended but not break the bank money and also a decent camera the mrs can use (at least thats the carrot ill use lol)

Surprisingly Tommy is an 18 handicapper, but has developed a horrible 'hitch' almost akin to Charles Barkley (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXBkIjI-C2Q).
he didn't realise just how bad it had gotten until I videoed it for him.
As you can see from the strike and the follow through, he can actually hit a ball, but the takeaway and side sway and double hitch on the back swing, it's amazing he hits the ball.

TH that looks like you filmed it in slow motion.
I think what Fundy wants to do is film the whole session in normal speed then watch back bits in slow mo but in good quality.
Can it do that and does anyone know if the Casio can.

And as for the swing...........
Is that his real swing?
