First things first, Apex are Hogan irons so why have Callaway called them this - seems a bit daft?
Secondly, I was delighted to see that these irons have the following: a thin 455 Carpenter Steel face insert, new ultra-soft 1020 Forged carbon steel body, a series of tungsten inserts, a new, high-performance wide-spaced groove with an XP95 lightweight steel shaft.
Sounds amazing.
Apparently these features and construction materials ensure: an additional 1-2 mph in ball speed at impact, translating to greater distance on all shots, greater feel and responsiveness for precise distance control, increased forgiveness, make it easier to get the ball airborne delivering better control and more consistent spin from a range of different lies. Not forgetting improved feel towards the butt (thinner) and better control and accuracy.
I find two things quite astounding when I read utter, utter nonsense like this. First, how could anyone (except an American, obviously) with a brain in their head, believe this abject tosh on any level?
Secondly, who in Marketing at Callaway (or just about any other major manufacturer of course...) thinks that writing this tripe is a good idea? I suppose they think it sells clubs and perhaps it does? I can't quite get my head around it and when I read things like this, it really puts me off a product.
I should be in marketing - "Ping Zing 2's are like the last girls standing at 3am in a nightclub. Yes, they're ugly but if you give them a chance, they don't half go!"
