I would say they are all great. It just depends on what colour way you like, what brand has been most successful in snaring you, and how the acronyms and 'story' around a given model appeal.

The 48° PW from Titleist

titleist lofts 2.jpg

Unfortunately, Titleist have completely "lost it" now, although they are still keen on the 48° concept.

The T400 that are 5-W3 are a near perfect match in terms of loft with my Forgan 2-10 set from 1961.
Just "out" by three numbers then!

It’s a wedge because it’s called a wedge and has the characteristics of a wedge - a “high lofted short iron”

Hence why it’s called a “pitching wedge” -

The lofts are irrelevant.

If someone asked me

I would say 4 wedges

A pitching wedge
Gap wedge
Sand wedge
Lob wedge

If the sets pitching wedge was called a 10iron then it would be a ten

Does your wedges all say what they are ? gap sand or lob, most will just have a number on them like 50 52 54 56 58 or 60 so are they not just called a 50 - 60 deg wedge ?
