IF you've got an iPhone, it's great value for money. You don't have to pay a monthly fee. It's a £17.00 one off payment. The only downside is you can only have 20 courses, but this would be plenty for most.
As mentioned in my other thread, if you have an Android powered phone, I found an ever cheaper app yesterday called SkyDroid which I will now be using every time I go out on the course. There's no limit to the amount of courses you can download, and if your course isn't in the list, you can map the course yourself on their website (18 holes took me about 15 minutes to map out the front, middle and back of the greens) and download it.
A 67p one off payment gives you yardages to the front/back/middle of the green from your current position. Yardages to some hazards (if they've been mapped) and "shot tracking" which basically measures your shot (think of a trundle wheel, without the trundle wheel
). Having used it last night, I'd say it was accurate to within a yard, which I can more than live with. Looking at their website, they are adding other new features as well like recording your scores and "club recommendations" so you can semi-tailor it to your game. For 67p it's a no-brainer. But again, you have to have an Android powered phone, but if you're due an upgrade, you're an avid golfer who is looking at getting a SkyCaddie, and your not sure what phone to get, I would certainly look at getting one just so I can buy the app for 67p and not have to fork out for the SkyCaddie.
