Caddy and bags

Saw an unusual situation whilst in Ireland.

There was a caddy, pulling a trolley with one bag and also carrying another bag. He was caddying for a two ball who were walking and waiting on him to run from one side of the fairway to the other(with bags in tow) to each player(the player nearest us was waiting on the caddy to run over and find his ball as well ).

This lead to a discussion between me/wife. I/wife were along the lines of we couldn't do that/would be embarrassed to do that and would have to pull one of the bags if we had been in that two ball. Also thought at most clubs a caddy was only allowed to carry one bag.

Would you have a problem one caddy carrying two bags or seen anything along those lines?

Double bagging.

Can be a pain if the golfers are not of equal standard/game. If one is constantly left and the other is constantly right it's a tough day out for the caddie.

Done it once for a husband and wife @ Mach Dunes. After about 7 holes the husband started carrying his own clubs due to the distances between them. Still did the lining up, "advice", distances for him but only carried the wife's bag.

Was rewarded very well.

**Edit it's not ideal but sometimes a shortage of caddies/late notice it's the way it goes.**

not carrying the bag as such but quite common at ours for one caddy to give lines and advice for two or even four and requires a larger fee. we have gone all modern and H&S wouldn't allow it i'd imagine. Though caddies now have to carry a bag rather than pull a trolley. which has pretty much stopped some of the old boys doing it now, which is a shame
