By Election Soon?

Where did I say she had lied? I asked you if she should resign IF she had been found to have lied. It was a direct hypothetical question and yet you try to wriggle out of it by saying that she didn't lie and you still refuse to answer. Ever thought about a career in politics?

But she COULDN'T have been found to have lied as she never did - and so the precise context of her non-lie did not exist - and without knowing the precise context of her non-lie you can't assess whether her non-lie was something she should have resigned over.

WOW! SILH for PM!!

I didn't understand a word of that, but totally accept you're 100% right.

I find it interesting that when I posed a direct question about whether Nicola Sturgeon should resign IF she had been found to be lying both SiLH and DfT refused to answer the question. They both said that the memo didn't exist. Turns out that it did exist but the contents were nonsense. Now the shoe is on the other foot both think the guy should resign.

And I have already stated in another thread that I think he should resign. Just as I believe Sturgeon should have if it was her that had lied about it.

I did not reply to the Sturgeon lying bit as it was nonsensical. I would need to know of the facts and circumstances before commenting.
There was no memo taken of the meeting by either the French and Scottish sides.

The memo that the former Scottish Minister leaked was third hand notes of the meeting taken by the Ministers aid which were then altered to gain political advantage. Carmichael has admitted to this.

Well as long as we're now clear that neither of you will ask or answer any hypothetical question or one that requires the use of imagination in the future then that's fine.

It talks about it near the bottom of this link. By the sound of things, this one still has a long way to run.

As for the comments about Mhairi Black above, she didn't threaten anyone with violence. What she did say was that it took every ounce of her being not to 'stick the nut in them'. I'd say that showed restraint :mmm: ;)

I can see where it says a police complaint but nothing about legal action ?

I'm sure Doon will provide the link soon - especially after declaring he looks at the facts before commenting

If they've rasied £20k in just 24hrs and need £60k to mount the challenge, I reckon they will succeed in raising the required cash and therefore the petition should make it as far as the courts.

Will be interesting to see what happens then.

Help what exactly ?

A politician lied - he isn't the first and won't be the last

What exactly do they expect from any legal action - what are they claiming against ?

If legal action is allowed then the floodgates open

There were 2 election petitions lodged after the 2010 general election. The idea of the petitioner is to have the result declared null and void and have the election re-run, as was the case in 2010 where the election of Phil Woolas in Oldham was overtunred and the election re-run after he was found guilty of making false statements about his main opponent.
