Butch Harmon's new DVD 'About Golf' is £80, which seems a little steep for a DVD.

Has anyone watched it yet? Is it worth the £80?

I'm not a fan of learning purely from DVD and replication and at that price I'm out anyway. I prefer a teaching proto give me the tools and the feedback. That's not to say it doesn't work and if you can learn that way then fair enough but surely £80 is taking the mickey

I too think its taking the mickey but at this price I'm thinking it must be something special.

I've not bought a golf DVD before but I would have bought this one on his reputation alone. But I wouldn't pay more than £20.

4 hours of tuition for £80 = £20 per hour. I dare say there is far worse tuition for far poorer value out there but like Homer not a fan of DVDs as a lesson format, much rather an interactive session one on one with a pro

Would you pay £80 to have a few shots off your handicap? No doubt thats the hype that will sell it. And if you do shave a few shots off, you would have recovered the expenditure with the winnings.

But no, I'll not be spending £80, or even £20 on it.

I quite like dvd's because you can always go back to them when you want. I was interested in this DVD too but at that price I'll hold off.

Tom Watson's dvd's pretty good and comprehensive if you haven't seen it

Waste of money. Not this per se, but dvd instruction in general.

What are you going to do....take your laptop to the range and watch and learn with Butch?

I used to watch and read, take a few notes, then hit the practise. I can honestly say unless you are 100% sure you are doing (a) that can be fixed by doing (b), it's a pointless exercise.

Short game technique/putting, maybe, but I just can't see it....

???

I agree Dave, I have watched pretty much every dvd out there, take a few notes, hit the range then cant remember what my notes even meant.

I prefer a lesson with a couple of drills to practice. Each to their own though

the only video that really worked was the Phil Mickelson one with the hinge and hold technique... that was a revelation for me

Give it 6 months and flea bay will be littered with them, £5 a pop then:lol:
