One of my targets this year was to break 90 in a qualifying comp. I did it yesterday in the monthly Stableford - 39 points a gross 89! As usual, like others I left shots out there - putting could have been better by at least 4or5 shots.
Never satisfied are we? Suppose that's what strives us to keep on trying. :)

Superb golfmad, it's a great feeling when you break the big 90. Hopefully it will become a regular score for you.

Well done mate, did it at the weekend too, our handis are very similar :D

Thanks guys, much appreciated.

Tarik (sp) Bushfinder, I'm sure you'll do it - swing easy :)

I don't know if it made a difference but I said to my marker not to tell me my score after nine, just wanted to concentrate on each hole as it came.

I decided to do this after reading on here about good front 9 and a disaster back, and thinking about the score too much.
I had 18 on the front 9 and 21 back. So it seemed to work for me. :D :D

I've hit 90 once, was 42 going out if I recall but the inevitable tiredness set in and I just couldn't break it. Soon though!

Well done fella, my target for the year was to break 80 by christmas, about a month ago i broke it with a 79 around my local with a SSI of 70, instead of celerbrating and being happy that id done it six months ahead of time, my comment was " without them silly mistakes it would have been 74/75 "

i should have just been happy with it.

nice one... i remember breaking 90 for the first time in a medal very well. very satisfying. it's funny how when we all began this game it seemed out of reach to break 90, but then you do and you set new targets to break 80. I've scored 80, but not broken it. Maybe after 90, 85 would be a more realistic target :)

my top tip, thank you 5% cut of all future earnings :D

Well played Golfmmad!
Breaking 90 is my target for 2010.
I’ve found that not knowing or looking at the scores until your adding them up in the clubhouse does take the pressure off.

Well done again.

Breaking a hoodoo is a great feeling mate, isn't it?

I finally broke 80 in a qualifier at the weekend, knocking it round in 6 over gross for 41 points and my first ever win in a board competition.

I managed to keep the ball in play off the tee, which can be an issue for me at times, and as most pins were tucked away behind big, big trouble I just played for the heart of every green and relied on my putting. Maybe the penny has finally dropped!

My aim at the start of the season was single figures and I am now down to 10.2 so it's in striking distance.

I can't wait to get out this weekend.
