after my close encounter a couple of weeks ago i shot a 77(par 72) today off the yellow tees,it was a goal of mine for 2010 so now i hust have to do it in a competition or off the white tees.i had 15 pars,2 double bogeys and a bogey. i missed out on about 4 or 5 birdies so i could have knocked it round level par if the putts had dropped.putted really solid, short game was solid, irons apart from one dodgy 4 iron on the par 5 first was excellent and off the tee i missed only one fairway or green.as a gross score i actually beat the 3 handicapper i was playing with,he had a 80. I'm still buzzing about it now.

Well done, its such a great feeling.

I have only done it once (my H/C is 19 but I havn't played in any comps to get it down) and I usually play to about 12 when I play well.

I was certain I was going to do it regular last year when I was playing alot and it just never came after that.

Having only just started playing regular again in the last couple of weeks I shot an 81&82 in the last two days.

My long game is letting me down but most other things are solid. My putting is the best it has ever been and I even managed a 3 putt free round for the first time ever. It really makes a difference when the flatstick is good.

Hope you have many more to come.

same here i'm off 19 but playing regular to about 14/15. had a 81,83 and now a 77 in the last 2 or 3 weeks.it was a wayward drive that i ended up behind a tree for one of the double bogeys on the 16th,parred the other 8 holes on back 9 though.i double bogeyed the first hole par 5 after i hit a wayward 4 iron into rough with a bad lie,had to chip out etc. never 3 putted all round so i was really pleased with the putter.its a new scotty cameron and i have loads better feel with it than my TM Rossa.

Well done mate, Breaking 90 is a milestone but breaking 80 is a real accomplishment, IMO. I broke 80 for the first time a few weeks ago, also with a 77 so I know how good it feels, I did it on temporary greens, but my goal now is also to do it again off the whites (and with proper greens), and to do it more often than not. I rarely shoot more than 85, so the next step is to regularly shoot 75-80. So overall if you're like me you'll feel than your at that stage when being a better than average golfer (or a great club golfer depending on modesty) isn't out of reach in the near future.
Nice one.

i'm telling everyone, its been coming,it nearly all went to plan, since ive been knocking it round with the 3 handicapper my allround game has improved loads, course management is now at a higher level than before i just have to maintain the consistency and all being well the handicap will tumble. we have a competition where you can play anytime you want and as many times as you want,it costs 50p a card and the best score card counts at the end of the following month i think, the best 16 cards then enter a knockout competition.you then get your handicap cut on your best score card,so it gives you the oppurtunitys to get a few shots knocked off in one go,well kind of. i cant wait!

That is mighty fine scoring and as long as you can keep the nerves in check next time you have a card and pencil in hand there is no reason why you can't do it again, clean up and get a hefty cut.

I think playing with the lower H/C always helps my game. Especially someone with a good swing and tempo, helps me to stay focused.

I played with one of our juniors, he was only 16, plays off 7 and hits the ball about the same distance as me. I actually beat him on most holes but watching him play, effortlessly was a good thing.

Top drawer stuff that. Well pleased for you. Glad you are also having a lot of success with the Scotty (I bought mine hoping for that exact same feeling!). I look forward to hearing about many more rounds in the 70s and a sizeable handicap cut!!! :D

thanks guys, the scotty has unbelievable feel and control, the same putting stroke with th eold putter would see me with loads of dodgy 3 footers back at the hole if i missed,i'm dead waiting alot more putts now and if i do miss they arent far past the hole at all leaving me with just a tap in.looking forward to the spring now and getting the competitions underway

well done mate, I was drunk for a weekend after breaking the 100 :D hope you keep it up.

long story cut short, had a couple of difficult weeks with work and other things and had a big bust up with a customer on saturday morning over money,i was very angry on saturday, anyway for some reason i woke up sunday morning without giving the stupid greek cow a second thought,I WAS IN THE ZONE i think.i was walking the course with a smile on my face and really enjoyed myself and since THE round on sunday its cheered me up no end!

I have to ask as I haven't figured it out yet - do you mean gross 77, so a nett 58 with your handicap?

There's hope for me yet!
