British masters, anyone going.

Arrived about 12 and considering the amount of standing water on the approach roads, the course is in remarkable condition

excellent to hear.. Im looking to get down the grove soon... they have a december - feb deal £280 for a 4 ball off peak.. £70 doesnt sound awful for a round.. however cant find on their site if they still take 2 fore 1s and open fairways.. would be good if they did

Great win for Noren

Good to see Westwood with a strong finish as well

Just seen Poulters video excuse for not showing up this weekend. Lot of respect lost from him

oh Ive only got 10 events to keep my PGA card and the event in Mayaslia (sp) next week I want to be on a similar time zone..

Ive heard my fair share of bullshit excuses over the years but jesus.. thats a new one

What is the problem ?

Poulter put a lot of work into hosting the event last year - a hell of a lot of work and prob to the detriment of his own golf game - prob the same with Donald this year. Poulter has been injured also most of the year and I'm pretty sure a first event back wont ever be a slog around a long course in mid October in the U.K.

He does need to play a certain amount of events in the PGA and he is just returning from injury so will ensure he does what is best for him as opposed to what you believe is best for you

Every single player prepares for each tournament in their own way - don't believe you or anyone can judge any player for the tournaments they pick to play

Dont expect him to play.. but least show up for the weekend and support the event..

the excuse for not playing would be fine if he showed up and supported luke donald in his supporting like luke showed up to his event last year

Luke Donald was also playing last year !

If Poulter hadn't been out injured all year then he would have been there playing

What did you expect him to do ? Just walk around watching other people play ?! In what way did he need to support Donald ? How can he "support" the event beyond playing ?

He could be mixing with the fans giving an even more unique experience to get even more people interested

Could you imagine if those young fans today went around and bump into poulter how much they would remember that and be chuffed

bit of commentary like he has done at other events during his injury

could have also been part of the "master class" they hosted this year..

plenty of ways to support the event without playing

Him Westwood and Donald were the 3 hosts when it was announced the british masters was coming back. You would expect him to least show up even if injured

If you're going to have a go at Poulter then you need to have a go at Rose too......
The words "mountain" and "molehill" spring to mind..

Rose is the same. Hasnt come out with an excuse for not showing up to support the event tho.

Not the only one on this forum who thinks both of them should show up at least

So you think despite him sacrificing a lot of playing time last year and hosting an event which included everything you mentioned you want him to walk around meeting fans instead of him playing and trying to get his year going again and doing his actual job that earns him the money

Poulter did one hell of a lot of work last year for the masters -he got it going again and he missed crucial events and practise time to ensure it went well and you want him to give up more time playing just to chat to a few fans ?!!

Maybe you need to adjust your expectations a little

Rose wasn't there last year and is currently injured with a back problem

These guys do have other stuff and families to look after

No issue with Rose or Poulter missing the event. You could levy the same argument to McIlroy as well and they all have a schedule and will work out what is best for them. I totally get Poulter's reasoning and as he now lives and is based in the US it makes total sense to protect his source of income, the PGA tour and ensure he has a tour card

Maybe I'm being harsh

tbh I didn't even think it was so bad before he came out with his video excuse. Before that it was like he is injured it's a shame he couldn't least come and watch but with this "time zone" line just sounded stupid
