British masters, anyone going.

Went yesterday. Been a golf fan all my life, always loved watching but after 27 years finally went to my first live golf. What a great day (free too). Followed Westwood round and then Beef when he teed off. Great experience. Really makes you appreciate professional golf even more

Any tips / interesting points? Me and my old man are going tomorrow.

I love both Woburn and the Grove, and for me the Marquess isn't even the best course on the Woburn complex! If I had to choose between the Marquess and the Grove, I think the Grove just shades it for me. Unfortunately haven't played Bearwood yet, despite the many offers from Paul. Looks like myself and Murph will be there sooner rather than later............!!!

For me Bearwood is miles better than both the Marquess and Grove

Marquess is decent but a lot of time in poor condition due to footfall - the other two at Woburn are better and the Grove whilst always in immaculate condition I find a bit dull and can't remember many stand out holes and the price tag is nowhere near good value.

Bearwood has no weak holes , has been in good nick both times i have played , is visually stunning in places , has a more friendly feel about it , isn't a hard slog and is I think prob the best parkland course in the country

I played the Grove off the backs in late August (7200 or so) and enjoyed it - but, would not rush back, although would be happy to play again. Not the most memorable course, but good conditioning if a little hard to remember the holes, or any standout ones. I prefer Woburn - I used to think that the Marquess was easily my favourite but was a lot less impressed second time out and think the others two are probably better - but need to play Duchess again to see if it is as tight as i remember!

The Duchess isn't that tight, it just lacks rough. Fairway, or trees, that's your choice. It only looks tight, although for the slasher, may be it is?

I was lucky enough to win a free 4 ball at The Grove a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it. At the time I thought it was one of the best, if not the best, course I had ever played. I've been watching the last couple of days and I've been struggling to remember many of the holes I'm watching. I know they play it the other way round with the front 9 being the back 9 and their tees are further back than when we played it but there are very few holes that stand out in my memory of it. The service was superb, the course condition was immaculate and the greens were superb but I remember more about the welcome we received and the staff members than the course itself.

I wouldn't dream of paying the full green fee for it but would love to go back again on one of their deals. Last year they had a winter 4 ball offer for £240 which I would have gone for if it wasn't for work getting in the way. Even in the winter it is still meant to be in excellent condition.

An airfield is tight for you Slasher.

Back on the scoreboards tomorrow. Teeing off around 7.30. Could I arrange for a cup of tee at the 5th, bacon roll on the 9th, and oxygen around the 15th.

I hope your using your charm and scrounging the odd memento from each group your with or do they tell you not to bother them at any time. I'd have thought the volunteers would get a little something off the players if they've followed them around for a day, a little token gesture so to speak, costs them nothing to be nice and appreciative.

A couple of the players will sign the ball but it is not normal for it them to do so, usually it's the ball they used on their 18th hole.

When I saw Richart yesterday, we agreed he really shouldn't try to auction the ball he got from Westwood. After all, it is not signed, not mounted etc.... could just have been one Richart found on his way round :D

Im going back on Sunday (Thank you TXL)

Are you hoofing it around again Rich?
Just got back home. Scoreboard for Sullivan, Karlberg and Quesne. All shot 4 under, and all very nice guys.

We are not allowed to ask the players for anything. Sometimes you get a ball from the players at the end of the round. Got one from Westwood and Hatton. Got a signed one from Karlberg today, but don't think that would raise much.;) Cracking day, and now off to St Andrews tomorrow to have a whack myself.

Had a cracking day today. Always enjoy a day at the golf. Interesting course the Grove, reminded me of the London Club when we went there for the match-play a couple of years ago.

The European tour are tweeting that play will restart about 10, with a 2. Tee start

Can't see that happening, it's still pelting down , greens are flooded, they will be very lucky if they start before 12
