Spotted this when I drove past it today, seems there is a new indoor golf sim place in Bristol. It's called inplay golf and opened on Saturday. I haven't seen much about it so thought I'd post it here in case any other bristol based golfers on here might get something out of this sort of thing.
I'm going to give it a bash, fancied having a go on one of these for a while but had none nearby.

It's just off millennium square, near the floating harbour.

I havent visited yet but its co owned by Paul Barrington whos an ex world trickshot champion and british long drive champion. Hes my inlaws next door neighbour and a really nice guy to talk to so i hope it works out.

I saw his van there last week, the one with his name down the side, I wondered what he was doing on the harbourside.
I'm really looking forward to having a go on this.

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Tahoma, Calibri, Geneva, sans-serif]I went there tonight - really is superb!

I initially wanted to use it to sort my driver out but it is the same at every indoor sim/monitor I have ever used - I just can't hit woods in them! Irons fine, but driver is 100% not what I experience on a course.

Got 271 average for driver which is fine but only 225 carry which is not what I experience in real life as there are forced carries of more than that on my course that I carry. I would also say my driver swing speed is down a little on outdoor reality (when uninjured and fighting swing problems)

Irons were ok and I was striking it lovely but slightly out to in. Distance wise I would use 7 iron for 160-165 in real life and my average was 165 (ping i20).

did some nearest the pin challenges and played back 9 at Augusta. Started par, par then had 8 foot down the hill for birdie on the par 3 12th and putted off the green into front bunker. Played out, then putted back off the green into bunker again. Had a 7 in the end. Then par, par, par, bogey, birdie, bogey - all without driver or fairway.

Will definitely be back, If my office was in Bristol centre I would join as a member there.

I feel I start losing my tempo etc when on the driving range feature as you see all the numbers and I start chasing figures, but the round of golf was great and saw my normal shots and yardages.

Paul Barrington was there and spent a fair bit of time with me chatting and I was there for just under 2 hours but he charged me for 1 hour.

I've been in a couple of times now. My office is over the road so have joined up. It is great, love it. Played Augusta today.
Paul and Ross are really friendly guys.

Love smashing away on the virtual range and getting the feedback on the shots, yardage, spin rate etc.

You can use your own or they have several sets of brand new titleists.
913 d2, d3 drivers
913f, 913h
With a selection of shafts.
Ap1 irons with reg shafts, ap2 irons with DG s300 shafts
Vokey wedges
Scotty cameron putters

As I said, woods are no good for me on indoor sims (I surely can't be the only one?) and I most definitely don't launch it low . But I think you will find that my course doesn't suffer from the wet and we have still have firm fairways anyways:)
