Hi All,

I am after some local opinion and advice. 2 of us are travelling to play Celtic Manor on Mon 21 Mar, however we would like to play somewhere on Sun 20 Mar.

I am travelling from Liverpool and the other guy is travelling from East Anglia so our paths can cross around Bristol.

We would like to play a Links Course on the Sunday.

On looking at various maps I have checked out Machynys (near Swansea and over an hour detour) and Weston Super Mare (40 minute detour).

Are there any other options I am missing that anyone would recommend - or any must play courses in and around Bristol?

Thanks in advance

Can't really give any advice, but Burnam and Berrow always gets a mention on here of how good it is, Id give that a go if it were me.

Also you have to take into consideration links courses tend to be on Coastal area's, so you will have to go out your way to get to one coming from inland.

Burnham is the obvious choice, you won't be disappointed. WSM is a nice round too.

Machynys isn't a links so you'd be better off trying Royal Porthcawl or Pyle & Kenfig, which are 1/2 hr closer to Celtic Manor too. Ashburnham or Pennard are your Links choices nearer to Machynys.

If you want to play a links course the best one around this area is burnham and berrow golf club... still a little drive from Bristol though.

In bristol;
Kendleshire Golf Club but make sure you play 1-18 not the 19-27... It's my home course :).
or
The players golf club but play the Codrington course.

Not a links but if your coming from up north you'll pass rolls of Monmouth, nice course. Beside celtic the nearest links would be k&p and Porthcawl. Southerndown is good as well I hear but clifftop rather than links.

Burnham......or if you fancy a non links, go to St Pierre, it's just over the bridge on the way to Celtic manor.

royal porthcawl is worth the travel time past Celtic manor and you can get the winter green fee till end of March I think.
