Any of ye watching this in Channel 4? greatest load of you know what i have ever seen .. the most arrogant bunch of knobs , id hate to think these are the type of guys running doors if it was my town... ive done doors & events for 20 odd years now & yea have worked with some right you know whats .. but these guys are rude without provocation & they dont seem to know where their "powers" stop .. ie inside & at the door of your venue not up the street ..

they have recieved a big contract for a gay pride thing & are recruting people with no experience off the streets on a night out .. what the hell ..
Id be embarrased to be associated with these guys ..
Anyone one here from newport or any Bouncer stories good or bad to share ?

i watched a wee bit of it and from the bits i seen they seemed ok,it was the scantily clad women who were a bit pathetic tbh.

Following a lad down the street pushing him away is a no no mate, once you pass the boundry of your own premises you stop .. calling customers you are refusing names will only bring ya grief . as for standing on the door sleves rolled up to show the muscles while assaulting the chewing gum . yikes ha .. bad image that..

the final straw was yer man in charge, 1st he tried to break up a street row with the women , nothing to do with him , he is just an individual , thats the police job. then recruting off the street for a festival .. you must be kidding me .. cowboys ..

I thought the best bit was when the guy who had just gotten engaged said he would be an excellent salesman as he thought he could "sell sh*t to the Arabs". I assume he meant sand.

10 years on the doors around Cambridge and Hertford here and did not watch the Newport programme. But feed back I am getting from a "bouncer forum" I use it has not done them any favours. Total numpties...!

Saw it and to be honest wasn't surprised. Probably trying to play up to the camera and look the big man but it definitely didn't do the company or the owner any favours. Fair pay to those that do it for a living as I wouldn't fancy it

Homer....to be honest with you it has it's good points and bad points. Can be a very thankless job sometimes when you try to help people that get themselves in such a state they don't even know their own name.
I spent midnight on NYE tending to a young lady that took a tumble down a full fight of stairs and had to be carted off in an ambulance on a body board to A+E because she insisted on wearing 6" heels.

... and what about the chubby guy with the hair, he reckoned he was the best thing since sliced bread. He knows his women and the signs ... Yeah right :blah:

He seemingly looked like a guy offf X factor or something ..

Would be my worst nightmare to work with mate .. smugness & arrogance .. youd have lads queing up to beat it out of ya .. As gripitripit says its like all jobs it has good & bad points , alot of which is determined by your own attitude to it .. look for bother & you will eventualy find more than you can handle , be arrogant & thats what you will recieve in return ..
One thing is tho, you from a bond of friendship & trust with the good lads/girls you work with that is like no other .. hard to explain but its like family when you work together for years, you know their body language know by it whether they are relaxed or watching something & are already on the move before the call comes over the radio.. like most jobs it is full of good & bad eggs , but with this job the bad egg can get ya hurt or hurt someone else ..

We ran a rock dance every wednesday night back in the 60's. We used bouncers and could guarantee that any fighting was between themselves or against the army lads.

tbh Newport is a dump but the programme did not do it any favours, that could have been any town in the uk not just Newport
I've been out a few times and it's ok,nothing great but no worse than anywhere else I've been, and that includes Middlesborough and Glasgow!
Anyhow most civil folk from Newport go out in Cardiff, the chavs/neds tend to go out in Newport more. I'm glad the bouncers have resigned though,I'd like to think if I chose to spend my hard earned in thier bar they could show me some respect.

I only watched some of it but the guys on the door do no favours the way they speak to some folk, a lot of them are already full of drink and to call people tinks about the way they dress is out of order.
