Bought a slow motion camera

still not getting it- do you mean you can hold the shutter open manually?

no, he means you can manually set the shutter speed ie 1/1000th sec

this may seem somewhat superfluous on a camera purporting to be taking 1000fps (ie if you shoot at 1000fps surely the shutter speed must be faster than 1/1000th.....) but somehow with all these electronics it isn't!

you do need good light to get reasonable images with such shutter speeds though :)
 
I use the Casio EX FC 150 and I just set it to 120, 240, 420 or 1,00fps
Having said that, you need a lot of light for the faster fps and the picture gets smaller too so dont normally use the 1000 fps.
I believe the newer models have done away with the 1000fps altogether

Yep agreed, I tried 100fps but the video was the size of a stamp and a bit dark.
The video I uploaded was at 240fps which I think gives about the right amount of slow motion.
