A while ago there was a thread about what to drink to curb dehydration. Homer suggested coconut water was great and promptly got shot down IIRC. TBH it does have some good properties for hydration, probably if anyone but H suggested it wouldn't have ended the way it did...

Well never seen a pro shop with Coconut water in it :D

Water and a banana will normally do the trick

interestingly enough- and not many people know this yet- but Milk is a quicker way to hydrate than water, many athletes use this. Water of course is perfect just takes a little longer.

Just a heads up as opposed to anyone buying these ridiculous and expensive hydrating drinks, or concoctions from the phlegm of the mountain yak brewed by monks and sold by schweppes:smirk:

Iconiq coconut water. Available at Waitrose. As a diabetic I shouldn't be drinking things like Lucozade and so use it in the hot weather to drink. Making no claims about anything else other than it tastes nice and keeps me hydrated

Me think they should intro a Lucozade with Coconut flavor... that would set the cat among the nettles..

Your school chemistry lessons, if you remember say acids are cancelled by alkaline compounds.

So, because a nettle has an acid in stinging hairs on the leaves and stems. The pain of the stings are caused by the acid which can be neutralized using a paste made of baking soda and water.

You'll need to apply the mixture on the affected area as soon as you get stung.

I read a few weeks ago that water is a more effective means of hydration than any of the 'sports' or 'energy' drinks which only aid the absorption of water as opposed to adding any hydration benefits. Only in elite sports does anyone require isotonic drinks and, for the everyday sports enthusiast, they are a glucose-heavy, fattening and diabetes-inducing nonsense.
