Well, they have put me at risk for 3 months and then a months notice. My first thought was not how do I tell the wife or how are we going to pay the mortgage but I hope I get gardening leave to get some extra golf in  didnt get any though I am challenging that one.

Anyone got any jobs? ;)

Really sorry to hear that Parmo.
Our company have just had to make 30 or so redundant at various branches.
I was safe because I'm at the used car centre and am basically the only salesman here.
I don't have a particularly good relationship with my immediate boss so had there been anyone else here I reckon I would have been on my way too.
Hope you get something sorted out mate

Cheers fella, thinking of becoming a postie

Nowt wrong with being a postie mate.
I was one for about 5 years in Tunbridge Wells before I got into car sales, and loved it!
Not so much overtime available as there used to be, but it's still a cushty job, keeps ya fit and plenty of time in the afternoons for whatever you fancy.

Rotten news Parmo sorry to hear it,but the way things are going there are a lot more redundances to come,Hope things pick up for you quickly.
There are not many advantages in getting older(I`m retired)
but at least in these times I don`t have a job to lose, and my pension, miserable as it is, keeps popping through the door.
Best of luck finding work quickly.

You have my sympathy Parmo. I was made redundant earlier in the year but have bounced back into a better job (though I had to look for a position further away as nothing near where I lived).

Hopefully you will be back amongst the working soon but if you need any tips just PM me and I can let you know about my experiences.

Bad one Parmo - going through the same myself. Leave at end of January.

Its ironic how we all think "oh well, no job, but lots of time for golf", before we are brought down to earth with a bump and have to face the reality of finding new work.

Still there are only so many jobs you can apply for in 1 day and am sure HID would rather you play golf than loaf all day (or decorate / put up various items of furniture).

Sorry to hear that. Not good at any time. Survived a "Business Re-alignment" myself early this year. Not a good thing to go through.

All the best in finding something suitable.

Sorry to hear your news mate. I feel sorry for anyone who goes through this at the moment.

Postie sounds good as long as you can walk at 4mph!

Good luck for the future bud.

Know what you are going through. Was made redundant in Jan 07 and it took me until August to find the job I wanted but at least I played loads of golf in the warmth of summer. HID is being made redundant from 31st December but they told her that she needn't come in anymore after yesterday. She has sent out over 100 letters to company's and is spending several hours per day on internet sites and company websites. She is on with a dozen or so agencies in Bracknell and Reading for both temp and perm and as yet not a bean and loads of thanks but no thanks letters.

Hope you find something soon. Nowt wrong with being a postie. Like you say lots of afternoons free for golf!

Keep steady Parmo - it gets most of us at some time these days and mostly we come out the other side. :(

if you get to be a Postie, be a good boy and don't carry the letters in your hand when its raining. Keep 'em in the bag until you get to the door!! :D :D

Sorry to hear this. Always bad news but as others say look on the bright side and best of luck with finding work. The sooner the better as well as that way you can use the payout as 'disposable' income so whilst you may loose potential golf time financially you will benefit.

Best wishes.
