Aren't blogs, twitter and Facebook just electronic 'soaps'.

I don't mean to be rude, but if I started a blog, who would really be that interested in reading it? After all, I'm no celeb, sports personality, weathly business guru, etc.

So why does Google place so much emphasis on websites like mine having a blog? Apparently if I did it would help my rankings on the google search engine! Why? Same if I added a forum to the site! :D

Firstly. I'm not interested in 'blogging' my exploits and TBH who would be so dull as to want to read them. After all it's golf. We hit a ball and put it in the hole. Just that sometimes we do it better than at other times!

Secondly. Why would I want to start a forum!? There are so many already, and it becomes a business in it's own right. Which is not what my business is about.

Google should concentrate on the core of any business on the internet and not try to 'morph' my website into something that I never wanted it to be.

My birthday. My rant.

Done. ;) :p

Oh, and just to take the mick, and an earlier request on this forum. I have reduced some of the products in price. Some by as much as 25%. :D

(Phew! I think I got away with it!!)

Ha, if that was to the 20% reference in my birthday post it was in jest!

However, I am considering buying something just because it's your birthday. Consider the profits the equivalent of a birthday beer! Now, do you have anything you recommend?

With regards to blog etc, I enjoy reading books that describe rounds of golf, how they progressed etc. I see a golf blog as something similar, just not sold in Smiths :) x

I think that blogs are for ego maniacs. And blogs by non celebs and 'ordinary' people are completely pointless.

Why would anyone spend their spare time reading what some muppet did or didn't do.

I am on FB but dont see the point to Twitter for people who aint famous who have a fan base.

Blog - I'm not famous enough

Twitter - I'm not famous enough

Facebook - I do not understand the point of this. Is it to show the world what happens in your life??? If so, you're sad. Is it a popularity contest??? If so, you're sad. Is it to get in contact with people you've not spoken to for twenty years??? Isn't that what Friends Reunited is for??? Both pointless websites!!! If I've not spoken to you for twenty years, why the f**k would I want to now??? You were probably a kn0b then - I doubt that's changed.

I was at a wedding recently and I bumped into some people that I'd worked with years ago. I was saying my goodbyes at the end of the night and someone said "we must keep in touch!" Must we, I thought....... "Are you on facebook?" she asked. No I responded. The reaction from the assembled crowd made me worry that I'd accidently said "I've just had a gangbang with the bride, the groom and the bride's mother!"

I prefer to do my socialising face to face.

Perhaps we could instigate web-golfing. We can all tee off our respective 1st holes and let each other know how we're doing by twitter/blogging/facebook.

I'm sure you said that in jest, but I'm equally sure that there are some self important twit(ter)s and bloggers out there who might actually think that that is a good idea.

Anyone who thinks that the rest of the world is remotely interested in what they are doing day in day out needs to get themselves a life.

Perhaps it could work on GM meets - London club, Ascot, Castle Stuart, etc. We could all log on and see who's done what with whom.......

Can't be doing with twitter.
Facebook is next to pointless (although I'm on it)
As for blogs; I suppose the idea is to write what you want to write about and if it's interesting, you'll get some followers. I read the odd one from time to time I guess.

I dont blog or twitter.

I'm on facebook mainly to keep in touch with family and freinds that have moved to other parts of the country and for some reason HID keeps talking to me on it even though she is sat 2 feet away from me

I'm not the type of person to sit and chat on the phone all evening or send a load of texts so i would never talk to any of them if i didnt use facebook.
