Hi guys, just back from Blackmoor. Well what a day, fantastic weather with the thunderstorms keeping off. A beautiful course, in superb condition with the greens lightenly quick, and with the pins in their most difficult positions.

I will let Richart post all the winners and losers, Bob & Smiffy. ;) ;) ;)

I would just like to sincerely thank Richart and his band of helpers throughout the day for organising and putting on a superb day of golf. I can see this becoming an annual event.
I would also like to thank my three golfing companions for the day Lostthepolt, Sawtooth and Leftie, for putting up with an old hacker, but it was fun and I enjoyed your company. Sorry I let you all done being the only player in our group not to record a two on my card, Roger that shot in the afternoon was brilliant. Thanks again guys, I hope you all got home OK.

This was only my second GM meet (first was in April) I must say they are a great occasion and I would recommend if you haven't been to one, to try it, its a really great day.

Well put Funky, I'll echo your comments on organisers and course to save a bit of typing at this late hour and would just like to add my thanks to Swinger, PNWokingham and Golfmmad for a great day.

I'm pooped.

45 holes of golf in two days, in baking heat + 5 hours driving = forked!

Echo everything above and add:

-Thanks to the Camberley crew for the company yesterday. Met some great people and had a very enjoyable afternoon. Big thanks to TXL for the invite. Lovely course. Not hilly at all, can even remember mentioning it or complaining about it

-Thanks to the three knobs I got grouped with today for totally wrecking my card and giving me banter aaalllll day  Had nothing to do with me having the touch of an elephant around the greens :o :D

-Rich, Smiffy and all the helpers for organising today.

-Jan (teegirl) for the two day push trolley loan! Lifesaver is an understatement!

-LTP for the sofa in his room and showing me the way back to the M4 tonight.

-The company in the curry house last night from Rick, Oddsocks, LTP and Swinger. Crying with laughter with the banter flying about.

-My R11 for behaving for two days and showing Oddsocks it can be hit straight (sometimes :D)

Yep, a truly fantastic day and all thanks to Richart for organising.
Weather was a tad hot for my liking, I was flagging towards the end, but the course was in fantastic condition. Lightning fast greens (scary fast) and some pin positions that had you scratching your head!
Got home just before midnight and promptly crashed out, was asleep within 5 minutes.
Was good to play with Homer, he hit some really nice shots and we had some great banter in our fourball, especially during the afternoon round. Had the usual wager but no money changed hands at the end (apart from birdie money) as the scores were all fairly equal and cancelled each other out one way or the other.
Congratulations to Gary (Region3) for his winning score. 36 points around there yesterday was great going taking the greens and pin positions into account.
Thanks once again Rich.

Thanks from me as well to Richart, TXL and Smiffy and their glamourous assistants!! How Smiffy sold that as a day out to his missus I'll never know!!!

Thanks to Oddsocks for letting me share his Travelodge room and for not raping me in the night

Huge thanks to TXL and his other half for putting me up at his place last night and tonight.

Had a great group with Jan, Mashieniblick and local member Jeremy in the afternoon.

Couple of highlights for me were Mashie in the massive gully on the 18th and me having to hold on to him so he didn't fall to his death and the look on the receptionists face at the Travelodge when I asked him where the pool was :o :D

What a day!
My prediction of my afternoon performance wss spot-on. Played like a dpanner which is more than a little annoying as I had a good 9 in the morning session. AM Drives flew, chips stopped, putts dropped. PM I could have scored better playing lefthanded.
Big thanks to Rich, Antony and JonBoy - my golf was shite but the company more than made up for it - most of the banter at JonBoy's expense.
On the 9th in the morning, TXL played, left a small divot and found the green. I did the same. TXL then filled our divots with the sand/seed mixture before going back, filling the trowel to overflowing and announcing that he thought he had enough for Jon's drive. Pure quality and much kudos to Aztec for just missing the green right , leaving no divot!

Fantastic day, thanks to everyone and if he hasn't already someone needs to recount the tale of a nonsensical chip -in on the last with a huge gallery watching......

Imurg we heard that roar of cheer from about the 14th so it must gave been good.

RickG, I only left you alone as I'd run out of GAC. Was a top trip with plenty of banter for sure, over the two days met sone great company abd witnessed so truly deadful attempts at this game for sure, my shank drive off the 3rd in the afternoon yesterday will haunt me for ever.

the look on the receptionists face at the Travelodge when I asked him where the pool was :o :D

Inspired. Richart sign me up for next year! :)

Tiger it was priceless, could only have been made better if he hadbeen wearing shorts at the time. I thought the kiddy on reception wad going to have a break down, his bottom lip quivered, eyes got all teary, abd replied so sheepishly " I'm sorry sir we don't have a pool ". Almost as fun as " plates hot please " in the Indian Sunday night ..... I'm still chuckling at cirtain points from this weekend now.

An absolutely brilliant day. Many thanks to Richart, who was the perfect host, Smiffy, TXL and all the many helpers. Nice to meet so many forummers and put faces to avatars.

Congratulations to all the winners especially Region3 as 36 points round there was top scoring.

The course was magnificent. The greens were lightning quick and the pin positions sometimes made a 3 putt feel like a lucky escape.

Many thanks to Teegirl, Rickg, and local member Jeremy for their most enjoyable company. Teegirl hits a great ball and her chipping and (of course) putting are deadly. Particular thanks to Rickg for saving my life during my attempt at the north face of the 18th green (I forgot to pack any mountaineering gear and I'm sure there were a few wrecked Powacaddys at the bottom of that ravine).

Finally I was one of the lucky ones who witnessed the chip in on 18 from the balcony. I won't reveal the identity of the master of the short game who coaxed the ball into the hole from an impossible lie under the gaze of 20 or so forummers but the suspense as the ball trickled inexorably towards the hole and the roar as it fell in dead weight were amazing. I don't think those of us who were watching will ever forget it.

All round a superb day. Thank you again to all involved.

Thanks Murph and Oddsocks, was a great round and a half! Pity it was 9 holes too many for me after the last weekend (my excuse and I am sticking too it!).

I think we can all be sure that the real winner was the guy who put the pin placements in... I bet he got many a chuckle out of our attempts to putt and those of the competition the day before us.

The person I think also was great was the club captain for coming and presenting the prizes!

It was definitely akin to Tiger's chip-in at 16 at Augusta! :D (Maybe on a slightly smaller scale)...Absolutely incredible moment and one of the many highlights of the day.

I'm still disappointed to find out you're not a Scot, Mashie :D

Absolutely wonderful day!

As everyone else has said, course exceptional, company fantastic, golf dismal! Baking sun + lighting greens + betty swollocks = Much misery :D

Great company today with Pokerjoke, Coolhand and of course, our hero Bobmac. Never have I seen someone drain 2 litres on Irn Bru so quickly.

Fantastic organisation by Richart and the many members that helped throughout the day, Absolutely first class, Tiger, you have a lot to live up to for Thetford :D

Finally Bobmac, dont worry. What happened on the 5th green and the 12th tee I will take to my grave :D

Until next time......

Rob

Well done to Rich, Rob and Anthony, and the helpers, for organising a crackng day on one of my favourite courses, with some of the best greens going. Rich - thanks to your greenkeeper for going easy on the pin placements!

Great company from Nick (Crow), Chris (Golfmad) and Steve (Swinger). I reckon I witnessed one of the best ball strikers I have ever seen in Steve - a 4 handicapper who doesn't play much, doesn't practice and preferes the pub! Awesome golf and could easily have been under par - on the 16th, Steve bombed a 3 iron down the 392 yarder (leaving a wedge) - Nick then nailed one of his best drives of the day - and he hits a good ball - and it was nearly up with Steve; anothr example was his 20-year-old metal 3 wood up 7 that went about 285 and left wedge, which he nutted all over possibly the hardest pin I have ever seen on a 421 yard hole! Then up 18 he got the big dog out and spanked it around 310 uphill into the wind, laser straight! Steve - it would not take much effort from you to get to a + handicap - I wish I had half of your talent - it was a pleasure to watch you play

Anthony - good luck with your 52 rounds you have planned this week - I couldn't do that at my age, let alone...!! And a nifty spreadsheet for the scoring!

I have never played so well around and on the greens, or so bad everything else - funny old game, was the opposite of the club champs 2 weeks ago! Will never forget the 18th!
