Blackmoor,

Here's my, "better late than never" reply.

Many thanks to Richard and his family for what was a fantastic day all round.

We were made to feel welcome by everybody at Blackmoor.

Can only describe the course as "beautiful", with the greens being fast, big and difficult to read. I completely misread the 2nd, attempting a long putt and sending it right off the other side into the semi rough.

Thanks too, to my playing partners: Steve (Swinger), Paul (PN Wokingham) and Nick (Crow) for putting up with my poor golf, just couldn't get the driver going.

Steve, it was a pleasure to watch your ball striking, and that birdie on the SI 1, the 2nd shot in was truly - "Roryesque"

Nick wasn't far behind Steve on some drives and hits a great ball.

And Paul, what can I say. That shot on the 18th, with all the gallery watching, has to be the best ending to a round I have ever witnessed.

I can't finish without mentioning the only highlight to my game on the day was the 7 iron out of the bunker to just short of the green on the 8th. Surprised my playing partners haven't mentioned it! :D

Golfmmad.

Didn't want to steal your thunder Chris!

But you're being too modest as you hit many more good shots, I particularly remember that fine shot on the 8th as you went on to make par and win the hole in our inter-group match, it might have been the only hole we won as I know we were stuffed good and proper, front 9, back 9 and overall plus 4 birdies and two ouzies, most expensive part of the whole day.

A super halfway house that provided a cornetto washed down with a bottle of San Miguel.

Lucky B******rds - when we finally arrived ?stumbled/staggered op that 9th, after spending 8 holes dreaming of a magnum to put the misery of chafing to the side for just one small moment, to be told "sorry, love we've sold out of ice creams, would you like a mars bar or a sausage roll instead ..." ..... in a Heatwave !!!!

Went down quite as well a quote with me, as "would you mind tucking your shirt into your shorts " in the heatwave on the 1st tee.
:)

I didnt realise she was running out of stock Steve. I bought 4 magnums , one for each of us but the others didnt want theirs. I just threw them in the bin , mine was sooooo refreshing though , you would have loved it ;)

Oddsocks in the curry house in Liphook after chewing on one of my green chillies . He'd called me a wimp after I was struggling with mine, so I gave him one. His face was a picture as he chomped away on it, saying "dont know what all the fuss is about", then the delayed reaction kicked in and he downed every glass of liquid on the table....priceless!!!!

Vicky wanted to know why you didn't have a club in your hand after your tee shot on the first Smiffy. I told her you had thrown it again ;)

Apologies to Paul (PN Wokingham) but I couldn't get both your head and that flowerpot hat in the picture. :D The picture Sophie took of you chipping on the 18th will cost a few bob. ;)

I think I said 'you scruffy git would you mind tucking your shirt in your shorts'.

it's ok Rich, what's heat exhaustion between friends (and i know it wasnt your own sartorial beliefs that i was compromising) - but then i've just remembered that you ran out of digital media (or whatever) so my beautiful classic swing wasnt recorded for posterity along with the golfing masses

Finally I was one of the lucky ones who witnessed the chip in on 18 from the balcony. I won't reveal the identity of the master of the short game who coaxed the ball into the hole from an impossible lie under the gaze of 20 or so forummers but the suspense as the ball trickled inexorably towards the hole and the roar as it fell in dead weight were amazing. I don't think those of us who were watching will ever forget it.

It was definitely akin to Tiger's chip-in at 16 at Augusta! :D (Maybe on a slightly smaller scale)...Absolutely incredible moment and one of the many highlights of the day.
I thought mine was harder!
