Firstly, thank you for the thread in Out of Bounds. I am indeed having a good birthday. 22...getting old
(Viscount, actually didn't go to Brighton due to friend having swine flu)
I had a gorgeous breakfast made for me in the morning (salmon bagels pff) Then whisked off to Nevada Bobs to hit a few clubs for a new set of irons courtesy of my lovely girlfriend of 5 years
I had a price range of up to around £350, but I would have added money had I found a set I really liked. I hit mizuno mx-200, mp-60, Yonix vm1 and vmx and TM Burners.
I quicked discarded the mizunos, I just weren't hitting them cleanly...24 handicap so perhaps optimistic? I hit the TM and both Yonex's well. But the TM was just leaking into a soft slice towards the end of the ball flight. And I couldn't justify paying a lot of extra money for the vmx's when I hit the vm1's (older model) almost exactly the same.
Yonex VM1's it was then.
The thing I liked about the yonex's was that I hit them a good 10-15 yards further than my current irons - ping zings2. The lofts are slightly lower than the pings, but they're also heavier.
Anyway, to my round. I was two under after three holes. Unchartered territory for a 24 handicapper! Normal service resumed over the next few holes and I went out in 44. Back nine was hit in 43 (all gross) for a solid 87. Par 72 course. Included 7 pars, 2 birdies and some disasters
Was a shame, as I felt a really good score was out there, but my driver was a little leaky.
Anyway, thought I'd share my new purchase and a fun round afterwards! x
