Hope his good golf is out the way for a week....

As to the comments about beating a proper field, he beat the top 30. Including rory who did what exactly? Great for Rose. Shame both his triumphs this year have come after defeats.

What a comeback from his injuries, well done him. Imagine the emotion that must have built up and the crowds were mental too
(with at least a couple of shouts coming on his downswing, but hopefully too far away from him to be a distraction)

Agree; with competitors getting eliminated over several events its potentially tougher than a 4 day event. Its a bit like saying the Champions league is a limited field event and winning it isn't as good as say the FA cup (kinda tarnishes Liverpools 05 win since many lesser teams like Hamburg or Newcastle didn't qualify to compete  )

Great for Rose too, another big title on his CV

And Rory must find a 'streak' soon & start getting better results or he could well find himself behind Tiger in the world rankings over the next half dozen events because what points are left from his last streak two years ago are about to drop off

Are Tiger fans the equivalent of Man Utd fans.....pot hunters?

Great watch last night, amazing scenes on the 18th

However was a shame not to see more of other peoples shots tho.

A very impressive performance but hugely disappointed with Rory who had sunk without trace before I even got in front of the tele last night. Especially disappointing as this is the 1st time he has played with Tiger in a head to head where they are both going for the win. I'm sure he will be gutted that he couldn't even stay in touch as Tiger ultimately wasn't put under any pressure and could pretty much afford to bogey 15, 16 & 17 (ok, so he made a great up and down on 17 to par) and he knew that a par 5 down the last would still have been good enough.

Rose, I don't have an issue with his performance. Obviously the Fed Ex was the big prize and he did what he needed to do. Even these guys aren't used to playing for $10 million and it must have been a different kind of pressure than he is used to in any other event, especially knowing a top 5 would be good enough.

Re: Tiger. This was a limited field event with only 30 players. Ok, so it's the guys who have qualified over the past 4 or 5 weeks to make it through, but it's not like a usual big event where players will take time off and prepare to peak for a big event, such as the Majors or the Players Championship.

In previous events where Tiger has been playing well, there has always been someone slightly ahead of him, and I can't help feeling that if there had been 150 guys playing then that would have happened again.

However massively reassuring to see how much golf Tiger has played since the Open and it looks like is having no ill effects to a full schedule. I assume he will play in more events next season, and we may even see him in Abu Dhabi or Dubai early in the season - which has been part of his schedule previously.

I imagine Tiger will go into the Masters as a favourite and he can definitely get round there with a fade and still have a reasonable chance of getting in the mix, albeit very few faders have ever won at Augusta.

You really think that players don't try and peak for the FedEx finale. Of course they do. 10M is 10M even for the rich.

What gives you the impression Tiger cannot hit the draw whenever he wants? I've noticed you keep bleating on the fact that he just knows how to fade. A big proportion of his career he was always a main drawer of the ball.

Quite the opposite I'd say. We all saw all the hysteria surrounding woods even when he was struggling a bit.

In all honesty the only hate towards Tiger Woods I see is on here. Every interview I former current and former pros they all seem to have a lot of love for Tiger. Rose seemed genuinely delighted in his post round speech that Tiger had won.

It's more to do with the scheduling. Players would maybe play 2 or 3 weeks in every 5. Regularly have a couple of weeks off. Recharge, maybe work on a few things.
Look at the difference with Rory after taking time off after the PGA. He finished in the PGA on the 12th August and didn't play again till the 31st in Boston. He was noticeably better than he had been and was very competitive. He made a conscious decision to miss a play off event in order to try and get his game in shape

Bryson de Chambeau. Looked unbeatable at the start of the pay offs. Probably shouldn't have played the 3rd play off event (BMW) and then over the last week he was hitting it about like a 12 handicapper on some holes.

I know you could argue that golf isn't an endurance event and it shouldn't matter, but it does. Whether its mental fatigue or just that you are not quite 100% after playing a lot. Russell Knox came over the Europe - finished 2nd or 3rd in Paris, won the next week in Ireland. In Scotland he started ok and faded badly and basically had nothing at Carnoustie and just missed the cut. That was 4 weeks in a row.

And as for Tiger... he looks noticeably more comfortable and accurate playing a cut to a right sided pin. I don't know how you can argue with this. At the PGA he was landing every cut on top of the pin and often badly missing a draw. Difficult to judge yesterday as he wasn't really under any pressure to fire at pins, but it still looked like the fade was his main shot both off the tee and into the greens.

Clearly the Masters is still a few months away and he could obviously work something out for the right to left holes - but if he doesn't the likes of Rory, Reed, Bubba etc. have an advantage.

Not a huge Tiger fan but I found myself rooting for him last night. I think it says as much about Rory as it does about Tiger right now. Wee Rory needs to dial it back a bit and just hit fairways like Tiger did. No point being 30 yards past Tiger if your in the long grass and tree's !!

:censored: I know the fade is his go to shot now. I'm pointing out the fact that you seem to make out that Tiger CANNOT hit the draw. He can hit it when/how and whenever he wants. Who are we to question Tiger on what shot shape he thinks is needed into whichever hole. Even I and many others question his gameplan sometimes.

Woods stock shot is that lovely fade and what I noticed over the four days that he played regularly off the tee and it was controlled and found the fairway with ease - but when he went for the big draw he seemed to lose control and either leaked left or right - they showed a slow mo of the swing and he lost his right foot

As for the masters I think it’s a bit false that you need a draw to win it - Woods and Nicklaus won it plenty of times with a fade

Woods seemed to be in control (until a couple of pulls off the tee on the back 9), even though he must have been incredibly excited and nervous.
Rory, who I think is a great player (at times) seemed to have no control yesterday, much like at the Masters on Sunday.

I hope Rory can sort out his Sunday's, because when/if he does he'll be fantastic again, & Woods could be very dangerous next year (I picture a couple of wins, maybe including a WGC).

As for Rose, he's just so brilliantly consistent - he'll stay around the top spots on the OWGR for a good while (hopefully)

He had one bad round at the Tour Championship, the other 3 he shot the lights out.

I think you have to take what the pros say with a pinch of salt. They have a lot to thank him for in terms of increased prize money but what they say in interviews and what they actually think can be two very different things. He isn't regarded as the warmest, most welcoming guy on tour.

Yeah I get that, and I do agree but IMO Rose speech was above the usual level of "yeah he's a great player and played great this week, blah, blah, blah" and I have heard many a younger pro refer to Tiger as their hero growing up .

Also I've never seen as many pro's waiting by the 18th green to congratulate someone on winning, although I accept that this is possibly because the cameras rarely give the winner the kind of attention Tiger was given.
