Anybody seen this? It's a unique bid auction site.

Check it out, worth a go if you need new gear!

You have to pay for each bid as well.
So if you match someone else's bid you've wasted your money.
Nice idea and some really cheap prices could be had.

There's another one called madbid.

You have to buy bids in the first place (but get 5 free when you sign up).
There is a countdown timer (a minute or 30 seconds I think) and if nobody bids before the timer runs out the last bidder gets the item.
Each bid puts the price up by a penny and resets the timer.

The prices stuff goes for is amazing, but the site make money from selling the bids. I think I remember an A3 Sportback going for about £1,500, and stuff like £100 cash will go for 3 or 4 quid.

It's a clever business BUT it's a weird form of gambling.
If you can "win" £1,000 cash for £85.27 (say) but the point is a bid costs you money. If enough people bid, the company gets thousands of bids at 50p, makes a pile of cash and one lucky person walks away with a great prize.
Probably one of the most clever non-scam e-businesses out there.
Well done to the inventor, not so well done to those who waste huge amounts bidding with little chance.....

I'm out.
