I have a bike, quite a good one when I bought it.
I try to avoid roads but have just bought a basic Turbo Trainer.
My conundrum is this, can I get a basic, low cost cycle computer that can be set up to read off my rear wheel?
I just want something to concentrate on whilst cycling nowhere.
I'm looking at the Cateye Velo 9 wired computer, which is about £20, but I've been told that won't work as the cable is too short.
I've also read that the wireless ones are pretty poor unless spending a lot of money, which I don't really want to do.
Any thoughts?

Another option is Spinervals DVDs. Although cadence is sometimes mentioned you can manage without and go with perceived effort. They're really good and make a huge difference to turbo training. Much cheaper than Zwift etc too.

you could get a wahoo speed sensor and if you really fancied it get the cadence sensor also.

Then you would use the wahoo app (or many other 3rd party apps)

I use the garmin equivalents on my road bike,
