Cycle advice required please.

I urgently need to replace my Mrs Slime's stolen hybrid bike.
The two I've narrowed it down to are the Trek Dual Sport 3 and the Boardman HYB 8.6.
But there is a twist!
The Trek retails at £625 and the Boardman is £600, so pretty much the same.
However, I've been offered a brand new Boardman for £150 due to some purely cosmetic damage. It's been badly scratched in transit.
It belongs to a friend of ours who won it in a competition, but it's never been ridden.
Obviously I'm leaning toward the Boardman, but which is the better bike and why?

Bikes in this category are like drivers they are so close it comes down to personal preference.
A few scratches is nothing.
