Best live act?

I've seen loads of great gigs, including many of those mentioned above...

They're not really one of my favourite bands but definitely the best live act I've seen is Kiss. I've seen them twice; once stripped down no stage show just great performers and once with the full on OTT performance with make up, pyrotechnics, fire eating etc etc.

While im sure they wont be many persons favorite band Trivium blew me away in 2002 in Cardiff they were insane.

Foo Fighters have to be my favorite live act however.

Thin Lizzy renegade tour 1981 .. or one of the best was Hawkwind at Stonehenge .. bizzare watching a concert surrounded by warlocks and druids !!

For gigs, toss up between Thin Lizzie, Motörhead , blue oyster cult, Boston, so many more
For a spectacular extravaganza there is only one Pink Floyd , The Wall

Thin Lizzy in Dublin was unforgetable. Just the best.
Hawkwind in Guildford, my first gig, it was so good I went the following night too!
Adam and the Ants was also a fantastic show, seriously, they were brilliant.
Rory Gallagher always made the hair stand up on the back of my neck. I was lucky enough to see him several times.

Slime.

For me, seeing Dio at Newcastle City hall was a cracking gig, lasers, Dragons, smoke, the full works, Kiss was a good gig as well, more Recently Y'n'T and Whitesnake on the same bill were very very good, Gary Moore was on the same bill but his heart wasn't in it, Iron Maiden have had some good gigs at he city hall. Bryan Adams at Whitely Bay ice rink was a a good gig, specially as he did a long encore , due to some lad punching a girl in the audience, the event being witnessed by Bryan part way through cuts like a knife and him subsequently stopping everything to direct security to the offender.

But all that written the best gig had to be Status Quo supporting Queen at St Jame's Park, we got let in first from the Gallowgate end, we sat center stage about 30yds back, full view of everything, I'll never forgot turning round during Radio Ga Ga and seeing all of St James claping and then the two arms in the air salute, absolutley fantastic.

Sorry i didnt read everyone elses replies but for me the 2 that stand out were

Sigur Ros
Meatloaf

Meatloaf was just fantastic...loved it from start to finish

Would have to be 2 many dj's about 5 years ago for me.

Never sweated and danced so much in my life, i could hardy walk or hear the next day. Sign of a good night!

My god, how many middle aged rockers we have in here :)

Thin Lizzy last ever 2 nights at Hammersmith Odeon in 84? the Friday i had front row ticket right in front of Lynott, Sat night was when they brought Gary Moore, Eric Bell and Midge Ure out, possibly more.

Ian Dury and the Blockheads - seriously talented musicians, fantastic atmosphere, went on VERY late, day before my Maths A Level exam

Dr and the Medics at Surrey University a couple of weeks after their only hit went to No1. Can't remember much about the music except it wasn't steaming hot day, and I was surrounded by hundreds of semi clad gorgeous goth women.

More recently have been to see Melissa Etheridge several times ; very talented and great live . Another odd experience being surrounded by hundreds of lesbians :)

Bruce Springsteen...best ever of the many I've seen by him would be a toss up between Stade de France in 2003 or Giants Stadium later that year...although Etihad last year was special too!

2 memorable groups from massive different spectrum's both watched live in Germany around 79/80.

Kiss (unmasked) Live

Earth Wind & Fire

Both were amazing stage acts and although are worlds apart in terms of music, I thoroughly enjoyed both of them.

My first Madness concert will be etched in my memory forever, and the subsequent 12 I've been to after that ;)

For me it would be any of the Springsteen shows ive been to about 7 so far or the Foo fighters in Madrid with the gaslight anthem in support was my first time away from home on my own and a truly amazing experience.

Two fantastic bands, never forget the first time I heard faith healer by sahb awesome track still one of my all time favourites.

Best live band was George Thourogood and the destroyers in Glasgow, closely followed by the Stones in Rotterdam.

Oops meant to quote Tommo's post, about Cream and sahb,

Ian Brown was also a great live gig.

Stone Rose's at Heaton park was very surreal,we had to walk miles back to the hotel afterwards but it only seemed to take a few minutes.
The Clash at Tiffany's in Coventry.
The Specials at Tiffanys in Coventry.
Marillion at The Reading Festival (i had no idea who they were before seeing them).
Jools Holland at the Birmingham Symphony hall last December.

Too many!! :D Another vote for Thin Lizzy, Hammersmith Odeon, Thunder & Lightning tour. Ian Dury & The Blockheads at the Lewisham Odeon was my first ever live gig. Other honourable mentions go to Bon Jovi for the opening night of the O2, Rod Stewart & Status Quo on the same bill at the old Wembley Stadium, Rod Stewart at the Edinburgh Castle Public Baths back in 2010 for sheer perseverance in the face of adversity (if you were there you'd understand! If you weren't; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhbMIW7QarM) and Bryan Adams never disappoints live.

Think out of all the bands mentioned I'd like to see The Who & Guns N Roses most. I'm going to try and get to more gigs, but some of the ticket prices are a joke.
