Best Christmas Ad......

I've only seen the shortened version so far and it didnt make sense, in fact I remember thinking thats a decent idea done very badly.........however, now you've shown the full advert its a cracker, why do they water it down, money I suppose.

Right I'm off to buy stuff at JL because of their advert (actually they are exceptional at CS and PM'ing)

Rubbish version of the Frankie song. Should have stuck with the original.

Still, I think they have form as they used a cover version of a Please Please Please by The Smiths last year. So I will boycott buying any Christmas presents from John Lewis on the basis that they ruin excellent songs. I mean why do they think having some female coming over all Mariah Carey warbling their way through the songs improves them in any way? The originals were pretty much perfect, stick with them. Don't mess with the classics.

Don't think it would have had the same "impact" or have gotten the message across quite as well.
Whilst I agree that the original was good, I don't think this version is rubbish. Different, but certainly not rubbish.
Still....each to his own.

Do like the JL ad. And clever thing is that once you've seen the full vesion all the shorter versions make complete sense and have the same emotional effect as the full version.

i remember the ads from my youth before the politically correct brigade got in on the act were you had santa either puffing away on a cigar or downing a scotch after his misses had yanked his boots off,or the ones were they put 200 fags in a christmas wrapping paper style pack,i have sent my letter to santa but not holding my breath this year.

Thanks for sharing as usually love the JL ads but only having seen the shortened version I just didn't get it. He does all that just to buy her some winter woollies - love it
