I am starting to think ahead towards upgrading my clubs within the next 6 months or so especially my irons as i currently have a cheap £25 set from argos and was wondering what peoples opinions were about Benross as a budget beginner/ high handicapper brand and would the Benross irons be a good upgrade compared to say mizuno mx-19's and are they any other good budget brands worth looking at?

I have a Benross compressor driver which i picked up for £10 second hand at a pro shop and it works really well for me which is what made me look at the brand.

Benross do quite a bit of kit in prolaunch platinum.

'nuff said. :)

My pro sells Benross as his "other" (cheaper) main brand (alongside Titleist). Lots of players at mine use the irons and hybrids especially.

Benross is one of those companies that seem to go a little under the radar. I know TG always gives them very good marks (but then they give most kit great write ups) but they do seem to do some good gear at very competitive prices. I'd also recommend looking at the MD range too as they are another company that doesn't advertise much but produces good quality gear.

In my opinion Benross has the best overall range of all the budget brands and are ideally suited to the beginner or higher handicapper. The drivers are pretty decent (the VeloCT is a very good club) and the fairway woods and hybrids are pretty respectable for the price. The irons consistantly receive good reviews and I am a big fan of the Pure Red Putters (used one for quite a while and still swap back to it every now and again. Md are also worth a look but I have never found their overall range to be as easy to use for a beginner as the Benross kit. Also have pretty good customer service. I lost a head cover and asked for the cost of a replacement. Was sent one free with a free cap as well.

I still use Benross Irons which I have had since I took up the game around 3 years ago. For a beginner/high hanicapper they are good clubs. Now I am a lot better standard I have tried some higher end clubs Ping/Mizuno and to be honest they did feel better off the face than the Benross but for a Beginner/Higher handicapper you can't go wrong.Never used their woods or putters so can't comment
