Benross Golf

Decent kit. Although at the "cheaper" end of the scale they always seem to come out well in the various magazine tests.

I see these guys a lot on American Golf website. Are they actually any good or just a cheap nasty brand?

Whoops. I think Benross and their many followers might be a little disappointed. :)

They are perfectly good. My pro does Titleist and Benross for our club.

If you're on a tight budget you could do an awful lot worse IMO. They make good functional equipment without the frills. They've currently got some nice putters and fairway woods in their range.

Definitely not 'cheap and nasty'

It just goes to show that while we all rail against the snobbery of certain types of golf club, we all have an inherent snobbery when it comes to golf equipment ;)

golf does this to people, bigger better car, more elite course, the latest shinys, shoes, clothes or unless you play a certain brand of club, just look at some post's on these pages,WHO SAID snobbery has gone out of the game.

I wouldn't have said snobbery but it is true that in order to get your game to the next level you need to purchase more expensive equipment (for most people). I retract the word 'nasty' from my OP. Poor choice of words!

I have always been a big fan of Benross kit. I do not see it as second best to a lot of the major manufacturers, it just does not spend huge amounts on marketing and sponsoring tour pros. I especially think that they produce very good woods. Certainly when I look for a new bit of kit I always make sure that I try Benross and MD versions as there is no point in paying extra if it does the same job.

Having had benross VX2012 clubs in the past and ditched my AP2 in favour of them i can say benross clubs are very good indeed, i currently have 2 benross hybrids in my bag and wouldnt change them for any make of club as they certainly work for me.
Its about personal preference however certainly worht trying before you make an expensive purchase.

If you look at my signature you'll see that I quite like them! I do get a bit peeved when people ask me what type of clubs I use and get a blank look when I tell them. Considering they do well in the reviews and advertise in golf mags it just shows how few people read up on golf.

It doesn't but how many scratch players would be playing off scratch if they had those cheap Dunlop clubs to play with and a rock of a ball?

Dunno.

Our lowest player (club champ/gross) does a tasty line in £9.99 hybrids. He does however insist on Pro-V for proper games. Otherwise I do believe he uses Nike PD soft.
