I'm sure that others more eloquent than me will fill you in with all the details.

But I'd just like to thank the GM team for putting this great event together. The PGA was a tough little sucker, and the Brabazon was gorgeous. Some say, that he PGA is a tougher course than the Brabazon. To which I'd agree. It doesn't mean I played any better, but the layout was more like what I'm used to.

At my level this was going to be a tough challenge, it was, though I managed to get away with a mere 'flesh wound' as opposed to a potentially 'fatal' injury.

We'll call it quits this time around; but I'll be back!

I'd like to thank those that provided great company for the last couple of days. Steve (Viscount17), Mark Warne, Greg (GB72), Ian, and of course GM's own MikeH on day one.

My fears about the wife getting bored were unfounded, and she had a great time relaxing at the spa and bar!

A very enjoyable, if occasionally frustrating, two days.

All I need to do now is buy some balls to replace the ones I lost!

Thoroughly enjoyed today, big thank you to GM for arranging such a quality event.

It was also good meeting a few of the guys from the forum. Still didn't get all the faces to names though.

The highlights for me were my 1st tee shot and 18th tee shot (Sorry Viscount and playing partners). Also playing a quality course. The rough was harsh and greens were lightening.

10 balls in total lost for the day, couldn't believe it when I had a count. I found the water a few times!

One of my playing partners Liam had a Skycaddie 2.5, seriously thinking about going down the GPS route now, but thats for another thread!

Gotta agree with you on the first point. I felt slightly 'tied' what with the Mrs being there, but to be honest I was cream crackered after finishing at silly o'clock on day one! But I've found that at all the 'events' I've been to. It's very difficult to get around everyone without appearing rude as you want to move on to the next person.

So it was you! Good shot btw! It was a priviledge to be almost hit by such a great shot!

I would like to add my thanks to the GM team for a superb 2 days. The PGA course was a disaster for me and I played some of my worst golf in years. Thanks to MikeH, Vicount17 and Hapless for putting up with me. Only highlight was putting the ball on the hole from a deep bunker for a net albatross.

Today was alot better and even though I only posted 24 points it was a far better performance. Matt hit possibly the longest drive I have seen on the first.

Great company both days and a wonderful event.

Only played the one day, the Brabazon today. Nice course, very american in feel, and far from the two hole course I had been led to believe. The greens were true, but not fast, the bunkers were right up my street (was in loads, but was consistently getting close from them), the fairways narrow, and the rough lush but fair.

Obviously the 10th and 18th stand out, but there are far more great holes than this.

I played with Jezz and two others who I don't believe are on here, Robin and Dhanesh. Robin had a bit of a nightmare of 12, and was great company. Dhanesh played off 6, and didn't have the best of days either.

Jezz was struggling with his game (common theme here), but was every thing you expect from a GM staffer. Thanks for putting up with us hackers, and I would love to play with him again when he has his game together (putter very cold today). Top bloke really, can recommend playing with Jezz, or any of the GM staffers, it is always a pleasure (not creeping here, I have now played with Jezz, Mike, and walked round Crwborough with Neil, and they are all genuinely nice guys).

For some reason, my driver has been awol for weeks, and today was no exception. Oddly, my favourite putter is awol for a different reason, and so I was putting with my reserve. Tbh, my regular gamer is going to struggle to get back in the bag after today. Putted pretty well, irons the usual mix, ditto the chipping.

I enjoyed the course, although in my opinion, if you want to play US style courses you are better off in Florida. Although obviously it is more than 1 1/2 hours from Watford.

All in all, glad I went. Shot 32 points. Was in the mix, but no prizes, but then that's not why you turn up. Pot hunting is a sad hobby, and it is really all about the course, you, and the company.

Really enjoyed today. Thanks to the GM guys for organising this. Apparently they may be looking at Woburn next year, so keep an eye out.

Oh, and Mike played well. Birdie machine apparently. Beware the injured golfer. Hmm. True as ever.

Excellent news. I've played with Jezz on his A game (he shot +3 round Ascot) and he strikes a great ball and has a great short game. Mike is a true gent as you know from the GM day at Ascot and Paul is always good fun as was Luke Norman before he departed to sunnier climbs and different vocation.

Glad everyone seems to have had a good day. I spent my time yesterday talking to the consultant while everyone would have been on the National and my op is now scheduled for Monday (its only moved three times so far!)

Of course. I was going to go rescue then wedge, but then thought I would regret it later so went driver. Played for a slight fade to carry past the trees, but instead got a draw. I never hit a draw with my driver. I wish I knew how. Ended up pin high on the left. Easy pitch over the stream to a tap in birdie. Except I hit some leaves ( you know the shot, they aren't in the way, trees are 90% air, etc) and dumped it in the stream. Dropped one on the bank, pitch and putt, 5 for 2. Regrets, none. Except that draw. Damn.

35 points won it, who? No idea.

4 guys out of 44 made it on the tenth. 2 birdies, but one didn't make the carry and chipped it close. Cheat.

More to the point, quite a few stood on the tee and bottled it. Oh, the wind was against, the sun in my eyes, I had lost my lucky topflight. What ever. Can you believe that people go and don't take it on? Even when protecting a score of 10 points on the front nine?

One of my playing partners put away his ProV, and pulled out his lucky pinnacle distance. Fate stepped in though, and sent this crime agains golf to the watery depths.

I took a few, but tbh, as those I played with aren't on here, there isn't a lot of point, as faces/names aren't known.

I have a couple of Jzz that I may post tomorrow.

Viscount is going to post some later.

Have you been looking at my scorecard Murph?

Seriously I did bottle it on the 10th. A tactical decision that sadly failed. A right to left stiff breeze doesn't suit me as I tend to hook, though I was mainly pushing it right today, though still not a good shot shape considering the trees. Oh, and I wasn't having a 'good' day, and the only clubs that were working were the high lofted wedges. Easy 6 iron down to the fairway, and then a comfortable pitch into the grrrrrrrrr..............water!

Twice!!

Then picked up. So to speak! As both balls were in the drink. Great shame not to complete a well known hole.

Should've gone for the damn green!! :( :D

Richard Greeenhough won it in our group, 2nd group off I believe.
What a fantastic day I had, having never played there, I made the decision to fearlessly go for everything  ) so I didnt walk away empty handed.I was really pleased with my game on a few holes, taking my third from the bunker by the green on the 17th and leaving it dead, my drive on the 18th finishing in a nice fairway position so I could have a go for the green (which I would have got if I had hit my ball clean, unfortunately it fell short of green) and a superb 9th hole par were just a few highlights for me.

Richard played a solid round of golf and recovered from mistakes really well (I didnt!) He also won the longest drive into a 20mph head wind (thats right isnt it Richard, you did say 20 head wind??? ;) )......Cracking company with Richard and James Robinson who is a great golfer who didnt get his just deserts today.

Really big thanks to GM for organising a great event, I look forward to more of the same please????? :Dmaybe a Links sometime?? ;)
