Had a real surprise this morning. Got a phone call at 8.30 from the person I was playing in the medal with today. He now cannot play so a call just to apologise would have been fine. I have, after all, only played with this chap 3 times. In fact he was calling me from the pro shop. He had gone up the club, cancelled his entry then called me from the pro shop and had arranged to fit me in with another 2 ball so as I still had a round.

Golf encourages gentlemanly behavious so thought these actions were worthy of mention as the person concerned had gone beyond the call of duty to ensure that his pulling out did not inconvenience me.

Excellent news. Not sure how many people woud do that. We had a guy playing in a team event who called one of his partners at 7.20 when they were on the tee about 8.30. Hardly fair and even though it was three out of four scores per team counting so they could play it ruined it for everyone. As I recall it wasn't even that great an excuse and he got some fair old stick. Funny enough he's gone to Mill Ride this year!
