So I have started to moan about slow play. Unrepaired pitch marks. Folk with untucked shirts, dirty shoes etc etc

Am I becoming a golf snob?

My mate pointed it out at the weekend at a pay and play as some were just painful to be behind and every green I seemed to be repairing pitch marks.

You are now ready to move up in the world - welcome to the world of golf snobs.

I don't think you wil be becoming a snob Steve it will be more as above. You are becoming more aware of what makes good golf and becoming a better player with that comes the need for keeping play moving. Bad appearance on the course is nit on though... Would you wear jeans to play football or rugby?

Pitch marks and slow play - fine.

Personal bugbear of mine that people are judge for how they dress....

I don't tuck my shirt in - what of it?

It's not like I look like a tramp on the course

Because i'm a fat ****** and find it uncomfortable. Certainly don't think it makes me look scruffy either.

1st line....I admire your honesty.

2nd line...matter of opinion.

It kind of saddens me that anyone on any golf course anywhere would look at someone and say, or even think, "look at that scruffy bugger with his polo shirt untucked"

Personally I've got more important things to worry about. Like making contact with the little white thing!

It seems Golf snobbery is alive and well :mmm:

Sorry; are we confusing having standards with snobbery? Golf is a game that comes with a set of standards, codes of conduct and more rules than are needed. But having those standards doesnt equate to snobbery.
I personally dont think jeans and a henleys tshirt is suitable attire for the golf course, does that make me a snob or just someone with standards?

Sorry Neddy but I just don't get why people don't want to go onto a course looking smart. I take pride in my appearance, when I'm on the course I like to look presentable. For me that means my shirt tucked in, clean(ish) shoes, ironed trousers etc.

It doesn't take much effort.

?...and dirty shoes (who can keep them clean in this weather?!!!)

Keeping them clean is easy in this weather - YOU JUST HAVE TO CLEAN THEM.

I think this must go back to when we used to get fined at football for having dirty boots but I've got a bit of OCD when it comes to keeping shoes clean. I have to clean all my kit after every round.

No excuse for not being tidy on the golf course. To take up a comment that has been said. About over weight folk wearing shirts outside of there trousers. This was something we were having a discussion about over a drink. The consensus was that over weight folk wear their shirts outside of pants. As it makes them look and feel thinner. Where as thin people tuck theirs in as it makes them look fatter.

P.s. I tuck my shirt in. Oh and clean all my golf gear after use. Even the golf balls.
