BBC's Open coverage

Had to endure 5live sat on the M25 on the way home from work, I think I heard commentary on about 4 shots in just over an hour and 3 of those were putts.

The brightest moment was the interview with Snedeker...for some reason 5 live had discovered that when snedeker won the Farmers Insurance earlier in the year he won a combine harvester. So the interviewer decided to ask him about the combine harvester he won and he replied "I didn't, I won a surf board"

Absolutely priceless, if they commentated on more golf they wouldn't make fools of themselves

Cotter is really annoying & Jacklin is really really terrible in the commentary box. Great player in his day, but awful at commentary.
Not a great Alliss fan, but he made me laugh a few times today.

back home after a decent round but knocked out the 4nations challenge 2 and 1:(

so I'm looking to see the highlights of 11 hrs golf and the beeb in their infinite wisdom aint showing ANY:angry:
Do they think we all take days off to watch all day or what!!!

Love the BBC coverage. Peter Alliss is great and like an old pair of comfortable slippers, as is ken Brown. Hazel Irvine adds a little bit of British glamour with Andrew Cotter, Wayne Grady and Michael Vaughn doing their bits.

Who needs Sky!!

Ahh that beauty of being on holiday, sat on the sofa all day and flicked between the golf and the test match, thought the coverage was a bit dull at times but on the whole pretty good, skys commentators often sound a bit more enthusiastic imo but having uninterrupted coverage was brilliant, makes you realise how many ads there are on sky.

I dont mind the commentary, but the reason they talk about so much random stuff is that the coverage seems obsessed with showing players line up putts, wander round, every penatly drop is shown in full with ironically Alliss moaning (rightly) about a big reason for slow play is lack of rules knowledge, well Pete, also a lack of decent production as there are another 70 plus players on the course who you could be showing hitting a golf ball!!

I think they are a bit slow with the captions (sometimes they dont bother so no idea what the individual score is) and need to show the leader board a little more often!

Peter A is becoming a cantankerous old sod in his old age....reminds me of me!

What exactly do the BBC have against Paul Lawrie?

Honestly, he's playing with Matt Kuchar - who we're seeing lots of - they're both -3 and yet Lawrie has vanished from the screen!

Grr!

Until they give up the ghost in 2015/16 and Sky throw the money to buy the rights then its a case of put up or shut up if you want to watch the best major in the world. I don't think the BBC coverage is great and the commentators get me wound up at times but its' that or nothing so I'll take my chances and will be there in front of the box for the final round
